Bengaluru: State government issues circular to take on Blue Whale challenge

Daijiworld Media Network- Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Sep 9: Even though tragedies due to Blue Whale Challenge are not reported in Karnataka, the education department has decided not to take any chances and has issued circulars to deputy directors, block education officers, head masters and teachers.

Department of Public Instruction Commissioner Sowjanya in the circular has listed five directives and advised teachers and parents to check:

* Whether there are any unusual symbols and scars especially on shoulders and lips.

* Whether children watch horror movies continuously.

* Whether children wake up at 4.20 am.

* If children are listening to bizarre music.

* Whether children post depressing messages and selfies on social media.

The Commissioner stresses the need to create awareness, to avoid vulnerable children falling prey to the deadly game. Pamphlets should be distributed and processions should be held. If parents and teachers have the slightest doubt regarding children playing the game, they should approach the police, states the circular.

Awareness meetings among children and parents about ill effects of the game should be conducted by teachers, School Development and Monitoring Committee (SDMC) and voluntary organizations.

Instructions should also be issued to the cyber café owners to block the game and monitor if children are accessing this game.

The Blue Whale Challenge, which reportedly originated in Russia, challenges youngsters to take part in 50 harmful activities over 50 days. Some of the dares include harming oneself by cutting the skin, isolating oneself, visiting graveyards at night, viewing horror movies, listening to disturbing music and, finally, committing suicide.

Children and teenagers are invited to play this game through a customized link on the social media. If any player wants to opt out, they are threatened by the game administrator that their family will be harmed.

Most of the children who have played the game and survived reported that they wanted to end their life to save their family.

Dear People, It is very sad to see the people complaining and comparing the levels in US. Educated people this is not called disciplining children. it is supporting children to be more arrogant. it is sad that in today's world parents supporting their children with the support of the fringe people around. the people who support are the people who are jobless. they want to put down the school administration, the teachers and other staff. it is sad that by doing this the children’s mind goes more arrogant and disturbed they as well get upper hand. Do you know that by this the children tend to say now the principle and the teachers can’t do anything to us we have taught them a good lesson? so sad, it is not the teachers who will be losing, they will just come and just teach, they won’t be bothered if the children understood or not. they won’t be bothered about disciplining children. as their duty is only teaching. what is the present world thinking. Teachers are the once who discipline the children. tomorrow you will find these same people say how these teachers have brought up these children. these same children will trend to develop as rouge children. Parents please don't get agitated cause you got support from the fanatic people who support as they might feel that they get support and they can show that because of them the things came to their side.
It is better to have children who are discipline rather than rouge children. it all depends on the parents how they want the future of the children.
in Kannada, there is a saying 'when a tree is small it can be moulded and shaped any way, but once it is grown we can never give a shape as we want it to be. It is very sad to see the comments.
Parents do you send the children to discipline the principle & the teachers. it is not this age the children getting involved with these types of activities. At this age, it is the time for children to be disciplined, and not to show their muscle power and spoil other children
