Maestro Events to stage Kannada play 'Swapnavasavadatte' in Dubai on Oct 6

Maestro Events LLC will stage Dhwani Prathistana’s Kannada classical play 'Swapanavasavadatte' on Friday October 6 at 5.30 pm at Emirates Theatre, Emirates International School, Jumeirah, Dubai.

'Swapnavasavadatte' (The Dream of Vasavadatta) is a Sanskrit play written by ancient Indian poet Mahakavi Bhasa, translated to Kannada by Dr Keertinath Kurtakoti. This play probably is the best known of Mahakavi Bhasa's works and has been translated to English and almost all Indian languages. The complete text of the Swapnavasavadatta was long lost until it was discovered in Kerala in 1912.

This classical play will be directed by Prakash Rao Payyar one of the renowned contemporary Kannada stage directors outside Karnataka and the recipient of the prestigious Karnataka State Government’s Nataka Academy award in the year 2010.

Cast includes Vidhushi Sapna Kiran, Prabhakar Kamath, Arathi Adiga, Vasu Bayar,Ashok Anchan, Gururaj Puttur, Santosh Poojary, Janet Sequeira, Shwetha Sharma, Shobitha Premjit, Manjula Nayakwadi, Sathish Hegde, Nagbhushan Kashyap, Madavi Prasad, Rashmi Chandan, Vinayak Hegde, Arun Kumar, Jaganath Bellare, Sandeep Devadiga, Jesh Bayar, Jayanth Shetty, Padmaraj Yekkar and others.
