Mangaluru: Producer Edward D’Souza's Kannada film ‘Darpana’ to release on Sep 8

Mangaluru, Sep 5: Mangalurean film producer Edward D’Souza is all set to release his first Kannada film, ‘Darpana’ on September 8 all over Karnataka. September 8 happens to be the Festival of Nativity of Blessed Mother Mary. And on this auspicious occasion, the film is set to release. ‘Darpana’ features Mangaluru and Dakshina Kannada artistes in lead and important roles.

Karthik Venkatesh has handled 21 departments of the film from being a producer, music composer, screenplay, background score, and visual effects to various others besides directing the film. It is his debut film as a director.

The film is unique as the concept is that of God v/s Science. It showcases God’s universal unchangeable laws v/s scientific humane brain trying to break those laws. This suspense musical thriller is also a family drama and is a triangular love story mixed with action, comedy, emotions with an overall entertainment value.

Also, for the first time in Indian cinema history 3D red cyan song is incorporated in the film that has to be watched with the 3D analog glasses, which will be provided to the audience. A song featuring 12 different foreign countries is incorporated through special effects in the film.

While Arvind Rao plays a superintendent of police, Sandeep Malani plays a neurosurgeon, Dubai Rafeeq plays a scientist and Yethiraj plays an industrialist. The rest of the new entrants in the film include Arun Kumar, Shree Ram, Chitra, Madhura, Manjula Pillai and Sharanya Jit Kaur.

Malani, who plays a doctor in ‘Darpana’ says, "This is for the fourth time I am playing a doctor on screen. Earlier, I had played doctor’s roles in Kannada film 'Masala', Tulu film 'Dhand' and Gujarati film 'Roll No 56'. In all the three films, my character comes at a crucial point being very important explaining a particular dramatic scene that is a twist in the film and after my scene, I am done. To say, I played only one or two scenes in these three films. But in Darpana, the film unfolds and moves ahead with my character too. It is an important character that has lots of scenes and has interesting twists and turns."

The film releases at Prabhat Theatre and at PVR Cinemas in Mangaluru. ‘Darpana’ is a Jah’s Creative Inn Production and is promoted by Malani Talkies.
