Mangaluru, Aug 28: The auditions for the much-awaited Konkani singing TV reality show 'Mojho Tallo Gaitalo', held at Forum Fiza mall on Sunday, August 27, drew huge response as aspiring singers came in droves and displayed their talents. The reality show is being hosted by Daijiworld 24x7 channel to pay rich tribute to 'Konkan Kogull', the legendary Wilfy Rebimbus.

'Konkan Maina' Meena Rebimbus inaugurated the formal stage programme before the auditions by singing 'Mojho Tallo Gaithalo,' a famous song of Wilfy Rebimbus.

NRI entrepreneur and philanthropist Michael D’Souza, son Manu D’Souza, NRI entrepreneur and film producer Frank Fernandes, ACP Valentine D’Souza, Udupi diocese PRO Fr Denis D’Sa, director of State Pollution Control Board Pius Rodrigues, stage actor, writer and director Francis Fernandes, former president of Konkani Sahitya Academy Roy Castelino, Konkani drama writer and actor Dayan D’Souza Mukamar and NRI entrepreneur James Mendonca were present on the dais.

Welcoming the dignitaries and participants Walter Nandalike, founder of Daijiworld said, “We are organizing this programme not only as a TV show, but to encourage local talents and to keep alive the songs of Konkani one and only legendary singer, composer late Wilfy Rebimbus. Many of our well wishers gave suggestions to hold such a programme and we had discussions. We then informed Wlfy’s family about this show which is purely based on the songs and compositions of late Wilfy Rebimbus. Entire Konkani world knows about his musical journey. Meena Rebimbus wife of Wilfy and his family wholeheartedly accepted our request and granted us permission.

"The response is really overwhelming. Our motive of unearthing local talents will be achieved through this show. Hope this show will be a mile stone in Konkani’s musical history,” he added.

Wishing the show all success Michael D’Souza said, “I am a hardcore fan of Wilfy. I was very excited when this show was announced. Konkani world loves Wilfy and his compositions. Many have become famous after singing Wilfy’s songs. Many have composed songs after being inspired by him. We all have to keep him and songs alive and fresh in our memories. It is nice to see Daijiworld TV coming forward to be part of this mission. This programme will definitely be a big success.”

Roy Castelino said, “We have all grown up listening to Wilfy’s songs. We sang his songs in our happy moments, remarkable days, gatherings, and competitions. We heard his songs in live shows, albums and majority of our programmes. Today he is not with us, but has left his rich compositions and musical memories. So now it is our duty to protect this and carry it forward to our generations.”

Dayan D'Souza Mukamar said, “I would like to appreciate Daijiworld TV for dedicating this reality show to legendary singer Wilfy Rebimbus. This is a golden opportunity for them to showcase their talents and also have a rare chance to become part of a programme which is dedicated to Wilfy.”

Fr Denis D’Sa unveiled the ‘Golden Mike’ which will be given to the participants who succeed in their first attempt at the auditions.

ACP Valentine D’Souza sang Wilfy’s evergreen song 'Mog Tuzo Kithllo Ashenlon' which received huge applause.
