Bengaluru: BJP asks governor Vala to halt Siddu's 'misuse' of Anti-Corruption Bureau

Bengaluru, Aug 21: BJP leaders of the State led by party president and former Chief Ministers B S Yeddyurappa, Jagadish Shettar and Union Minister Ananth Kumar were part of a delegation that met Karnataka Governor Vajuvhai Vala on Monday protesting against the 'misuse' of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

The delegation, which included opposition leader in the State Legislative Council and former Deputy Chief Ministers K S Eshwarappa and R Ashok, also accused the ruling Congress party of tapping the telephones of political opponents.

The BJP delegation submitted a memorandum the governor and sought his intervention against the backdrop of the ACB registering two fresh complaints of land de-notification against former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa.

They even alleged that the telephones of opposition leaders are being tapped and asked the Governor to check the misuse.

The cases refer to Yeddyurappa’s denotifications of 257 acres of land in the proposed Shivarama Karanth Layout in Bengaluru when he was chief minister 7 years ago.

The BJP leaders alleged that the ACB is being misused by Siddaramaiah to settle political scores and crush political opponents.

They also see the move, coming aftermath of the I-T raids on Karnataka energy minister DK Shivakumar's premises, as part of Siddaramaiah's vendetta against Yeddyurappa, who is leading an agitation pressing for Shivakumar's resignation.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah asked Yeddyurappa to appear before the ACB and prove his innocence instead of wasting his energies by staging protests. "Why is he delaying to clarify his position if he is really innocent?," he asked and said the Congress government does not believe in vendetta politics as is being done by the Narendra Modi government at the Centre to browbeat the opposition.

Karnataka’s Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra said the ACB was acting independently and would go by documentary evidence. "Statements by anybody would not matter," he said when asked about the former officer Basarajappa alleging that he was forced to give evidence to implicate Yeddyurappa.

The Chief Minister, incidentally, wondered why the officer remained silent for seven years and suddenly realised that he was coerced to give evidence. What happened seven years ago and the official documents are the key and not any kind of unfounded statements, he added.

If IT-dept. does they are doing their duty.
If ACB does, they are misused by CM

The BJP government targets anyone who they perceive as a threat to them, even by conjuring up false allegations. But now they have no shame to ask the governor to stop investigations into Yeddy's scams. The NDA is no better than the UPA....maybe worse when it comes to treating minorities. Using money and power to silence the opposition is a grave danger to democracy. I hope right-thinking citizens wake up to the "dark forces" ruining India.

Modi wants to conquer India by hook or by crook. His governors are his co-conspirators. He has put the constitution on a slippery slope.

There is considerable controversy over the role of the governor. The governors under the Government of India Act 1935 were by the Raj, of the Raj and for the Raj. The constituent assembly wanted elected governors as proposed by a sub-committee of B.G. Kher, K.N. Katju and P. Subbarayan. Ironically, Katju was later appointed governor of West Bengal, even though he clearly took the view that the office should be apolitical. The draft constitution of 1948 was ambivalent – the drafting committee leaving it to the constituent assembly to decide whether governors should be elected or nominated.
When he became prime minister in 2014, Modi changed virtually all the governors and lieutenant-governors. The scorecard is as follows:
    Modi’s governors
    Total Pre-Modi Modi
    States 29 03 26
    Union Territory 07 00 07
Some of Modi’s appointments have proved to be a disgrace. Consider the case of Meghalaya governor V. Shanmuganathan, who resigned on January 26 amid allegations of sexual harassment, with 80 Raj Bhawan staff members complaining that he ran his official residence as a “young ladies club”. Why was he appointed? Because he was a pracharak of the RSS? Is this what RSS pracharaks do?
In Arunachal Pradesh, governor Jyoti Prasad Rajkhowa gave biased instructions to the legislature and then on January 23, 2016, imposed president’s rule, which was conveniently withdrawn by Modi’s government on February 19, 2016. Of course before and after Rajkhowa, the governor of Arunachal was Roy, who handled the matter of Kalikho Pul after the judgment of the Supreme Court. Pul, fed up with the machinations, committed suicide.
From Goa to Manipur, Modi’s Governors have sabotaged democracy. The BJP which came to the throne of power promising anti corruption now using Governor of Karnataka for the same.

ACB,Lokayukta,IT,ED,CBI,CID...all these should be free to investigate without political interference....

Problem is when sitting in opposition all want full freedom and their calls not tapped....moment they become ruling party...same guys without any shame start tapping their political opponents phone calls....

I have seen late Ramakrishna Hegde doing this(tapping opponents phones)....and leaking Bangarappa's conversation...When a polished and cultured politician like Hegde could do it...what can we expect from Siddu???...
