Love jihad: What happens to women's freedom now, Owaisi asks

Hyderabad, Aug 17 (PTI): AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi today asked those championing women's rights in the triple talaq issue why they were not defending the same freedom of choice when a Hindu woman decided to marry a Muslim man.

He was answering a reporter's question here on the NIA's statement in the Supreme Court today that a "pattern" was emerging in Kerala as part of the alleged 'love jihad' campaign.

"In the triple talaq issue, everybody criticised that there is no independence to take decision for Muslim women. Now, a 24-year-old woman (in Kerala) takes a decision on her own (to marry a Muslim man), what happens to that independent decision? Why are those voices silent now?" he asked.

The apex court today ordered the NIA to probe a case of marriage of a Hindu woman with a Muslim man and her conversion. The agency claimed it was not an isolated incident but part of a "pattern" emerging in Kerala.

Owaisi and those who have taken it upon themselves to be champions of women's liberties, shut it. A woman has equal right to marry whoever she wishes, and defend her choice if need be. This is a personal arena. Politicians better stay out of it. And so should pseudo feminists who want to hit mauke pe chowka.

I do not find any difference between you and MP Nalin, both are people representatives and elected candidates but fight only for your religion and sect, when your own men murder innocent people you all hide in your house and have fun through news channels. When your people get killed, you guys block the road and threaten to burn the city and daily hold the news conference.

..freedom is not absolute..if so why parents in Kerala filing cases on ZN for their kids backpacking to Syria/Iraq/afganistan..those run away think they did right thing, they call their parents and say they are doing right(in that one christian guy & girl convertee)..they are major, then why parents/ society worried..because parents/ society knows they are brain washed into believe they are doing right..its not about interfaith/intercast marriage..its about brainwash, blackmailing gullible girls..its crime, its doesnt matter major or minor..

First of all conversion should be declared illegal. 'Love jihad,' word itself is barbaric since love has no religion at all.

Yes, even I agree to this. Conversion to be declared as illegal and if any children born to the couple should go with the religion of their mother.

Are our woman captive??? to free them.
They are free to choose between safe guarding modesty or Nanga naach.
In which world you are living? what do you see in Qatar?
I know you are talking because of Burkha.
Every woman of this world has a dress code to protect their modesty
It all depending their mind set.
You as Sadhvis, why they dress like that
you as Nuns, why they dress like that

In a truely Islamic society women have the following rights in Islam:
    1. The right and duty to obtain education.
    2. The right to have their own independent property.
    3. The right to work to earn money if they need it or want it.
    4. Equality of reward for equal deeds.
    5. The right to express their opinion and be heard.
    6. The right to provisions from the husband for all her needs and more.
    7. The right to negotiate marriage terms of her choice.
    8. The right to obtain divorce from her husband, even on the grounds that she simply can't stand him. (pls note that God deeply frowns upon divorce as a solution unless there is hardly any other alternative but it does not mean that men have more right to divorce their wives than women do.)
    9. The right to keep all her own money (she is not responsible to maintain any relations).
    10. The right to get sexual satisfaction from her husband.
    11. custody of their children after divorce.
    12. to refuse any marriage that does not please them
    and more...
