SC orders NIA probe into Kerala girl's conversion, marriage

New Delhi, Aug 16 (IANS): The Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the conversion and marriage of a Hindu girl in Kerala in 2016.

Justice R.V. Ravindran, a retired judge of the apex court, will supervise the investigation.

Ordering the probe, a bench of Chief Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar and Justice D.Y. Chandrachud said before taking a final call, the court "shall require the presence of the girl".

The bench said it would decide the issue after getting inputs from all, including the NIA, Kerala government and others.

The order came after Kapil Sibal, appearing for the petitioner, Shafeen Jahan, said the court should decide the issue after speaking to the girl.

The marriage of the converted girl with Jahan was nullified by the Kerala High Court.

Petitioner Jahan has moved the top court challenging the High Court's decision.

The court order came as the bench was told that the NIA has in its preliminary probe found that there was a pattern as "entities" in two cases that have come to light were the same.

Senior counsel Indira Jaising told the bench that it was an inter-religious matter and the court must be careful.

In India, it is better to get a spouse from the same religion. Now the time is not the same like earlier. Earlier some youths really loved girls from other cast, got married and lived happy life but at the same time many boys used girls from other religion for fun and ditched them at the end and some times married and made the rest of their life hell.
Teach your children the value of religion and marriage when they are getting in to teenagers and the consequence if they marry a person from other cast.

Known devil is better then unknown angel (from other religion). if there is friction between husband and wife of the same religion, parents and relatives from both sides will come out with solutions to sort out the differences. But if it is inter-cast marriage and the girl is already eloped with the boy then the boy will take advantage and make her life hell and boy will not allow the girl to go to her house. There are many cases like this in India. Some boys are more eager to convert them to their religion then loving girl from other religion.

Kerala has more literates, more fanatics and also more superstitious. Record numbers have joined ISIS. What kind of literacy is this? They snatch jobs and impose their culture wherever they settle. Is anybody ready to live in Kerala?
