RSS flays Kerala bid to prevent Bhagwat from hoisting flag

New Delhi, Aug 16 (IANS): The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has condemned the CPI (M)-led Kerala government's orders to prevent its chief Mohan Bhagwat from unfurling the national flag at a school in Palakkad district of Kerala on Tuesday.

Bhagwat, however, hoisted the tricolour defying the orders issued by the district administration.

"We condemn such brazen attempts by the CPI(M)-led government of Kerala to deny the basic citizen right of celebrating Independence Day and their continuous attempts to poison the state of Kerala with divisive politics," RSS leader Manmohan Vaidya said in a statement.

Sarsanghachalak Bhagwat was invited by the Karnakayamman Higher Secondary School in Palakkad to participate in the golden jubilee celebrations of the school and the Independence Day celebrations.

On Monday night, the school received a notice from the District Collector stating that only institutional heads or elected representatives can unfurl the national flag in schools. However, the school management decided to proceed as planned and Bhagwat hoisted the flag.

    In my view...,
Defying the constitutionally elected govt's order don't bring honor in the eyes of right thinking Hindustani's to any individual.., A person who don't respect the law of the land ..., don't deserve respect from any kind of right thinking person..,

Patriotism/nationalism don't has any locus standie to defend the offending action...!!!!

I have no problem with National Anthem or Song. I have heard on TV that some complained of Adinayaka. They say when song was written in 1905, Adinayaka was King George. Bharatha bagya vidata ( India's fortune is in your hand Lord" also refers to him. Why it is still there today, there was no good answer. Also some other say Sindhu is in Pakistan today, he can not praise Pakistan. Please explain, just for our information.

Dirty ploy of the Communist govt in Kerala to resort to such low level tactics of involving poor DC to invoke restrictions on Bhagawat. Meantime, in same town, lot of Congress men and Communists leaders were hoisting flags everywhere

I was told by my teachers, there was no restriction of hoisting national flags anywhere on Independence and Republic day, other than those 2 days, throughout the year, only on govt offices.

I was also told that RSS did not hoist national flag because their first 2 chiefs told them not to hoist, since they were against tricolor. They wanted only saffron color.
My teachers may be right or wrong, I do not know.

Rss is not a political org like bjp or cong.. it is more like a temple or mutt to protect hindu intestest in the land.. so they keep temple flag - saffron color. but now it has become compulsion by some sections and hence rss started hoisting it.

Rajesh, Temple and Mutt teaches peace, prayer and love. That is a sacred place where no arms training is given to minor children. Google and see what is happening in RSS office before comparing such a place to Temple and Mutt.

I never said it is same as temple.. its a comparision and objective is towards hindus.. protecting land and protecting self..discussion is in the context of flag hoisting.... so flag hoisting not mandatory unlike cong-bjp offices which are pure political bodies.. Hope that clarifies.

It has come in some papers earlier, that when Mahatma Gandhi was shot, RSS workers trampled on Indian flags. RSS unfurled Indian flag only from 2002. The DC of Palakkad, P Marykutty has instructed police to register cases against the RSS Chief, according to TOI. There were cases against Bal Thackeray, and many agsinst VHP Chief, but nothing happens in India, and so may be with RSS Chief.
