Bengaluru: Colleges challenge order on Nursing Council

Bengaluru, Aug 15 (DHNS): Nursing colleges have moved the High Court of Karnataka challenging the single bench order which had stated that the Indian Nursing Council does not have the authority to grant recognition to institutions imparting the nursing course.

Adichunchanagiri College of Nursing and 29 other nursing colleges moved the court contending that the Indian Nursing Council has the authority.

Karnataka State Association of the Management of Nursing and Allied Health Science Institutions and others had earlier approached the court seeking directions to rule out the authority claimed by the council and said that they are governed only by the university to which their institution is affiliated or to the Medical Council of India.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice S K Mukherjee and Justice P S Dinesh Kumar adjourned the next hearing to August 21.

Notice to govt
