Udupi, Aug 15: Remember the charming rendition of 'Mile sur mera tumhara' that gave us a sense of pride every time we watched it on the television in the late 80s and the early 90s? Now, a group of artistes from Udupi have come up with a special video reminiscent of that pride, featuring the National Anthem 'Jana Gana Mana'.
In commemoration of its tenth anniversary celebration, Karavali Sangeetha Kalavidhara Okkoota, Udupi division have launched their video of the rendition of 'Jana Gana Mana' in time for the 71st Independence Day, as a tribute to India.
The video has been shot in the pristine surroundings of Udupi and is definitely a visual treat. The soul-stirring National Anthem for the video was sung by 50 artistes from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi. This sort of effort has been made for the first in Udupi. Eminent singers like Naveen Chandra Koppa and others have rendered their voices for the song.
Sudesh Poojary has directed the album song. Music programming was done by Sharath Uchila, Arun Havanje and Vaman Bailuru.
Surendra Paniyur edited the song. Ranjith Kundapur has superbly captured the beauty of the temple town, Kaup lighthouse and the Malpe beach using drone cameras. The visual effects, designed by Brijesh Manipal, perfectly complement the wonderful camera work by Sujatha Lalitha Poojary and Ravi Ajekar.
The Okkuta members took three months to make the 1 minute and 39-second video, but it took just one day to give the finishing touch with the audio-visual composition.
Speaking to reporters, former president of the Okkuta Sharath Uchila said, "This time we wanted to do something new and unique in our field. So we thought of making a vide of the National Anthem sung by our Okkoota members. It was a new experience for us. Karavali Sangeetha Kalavidhara Okkoota Mangaluru and Udupi are celebrating tenth anniversary, and to make this occasion special, we decided to come up with the video song of our National Anthem. We hope and pray that everyone likes the video and supports us."
