Mangaluru, Aug 14: St Christopher Association held its annual general body meeting and members’ families’ get-together at Rosario cultural hall on Sunday, August 13.

Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu, Vicar General of Mangaluru Diocese, presiding over the function said, “Our youth after education, migrate to other states and countries, fall into relationships with people without knowing their family background, caste and culture. Many of them get married and then apply for divorce within a year. This is a tragedy. In family, we need to have faith, respect towards each other and obedience. All children should respect their parents and help them in household activities. Every child has to study hard and should have a goal in life.”

As many as 16 children who topped in SSLC, PU, graduation and engineering were felicitated on the occasion.

Stany Alvares was also honored for being nominated as member of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya academy, Sushil Noronha for being nominated as a member of National Catholic Council of India, Lancy D’Cunha for being elected as the president of All India Catholic Union, Anil Lobo for being elected as the president of Catholic Sabha Central Council and Merwin Ivan Pinto for being best NCC Cadet.

Fr J B Crasta, spiritual director, appreciated the association’s activities.

Herold D’Souza, president, welcomed the gathering. Nigil Pereira, secretary delivered the vote of thanks. Fr Anil Fernandes, assistant parish priest of Rosario church, Francies D’Souza, vice-president of the association and Alphonse Fernandes, founder secretary, were present.
