30 children die in Gorakhpur hospital, UP government says seven

Lucknow, Aug 11 (IANS): At least 30 children died in the state-run Baba Raghav Das Medical College in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur, the parliamentary constituency of Uttar Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in the last two days, an official said Friday. The government however said that only seven had died.

Gorakhpur DM Rajeev Rautela told local TV channels confirming the "death of 30 kids in the last two days" and seven deaths in the last 24 hours.

He said that 17 children had died in the neo-natal ward, five in the ward meant of patients suffering from acute encephalitis syndrome and eight in the general ward.

Denying that the children had died due to lack of oxygen, he confirmed that there was shortage of liquid oxygen at the medical college and that due to non-payment of Rs 70 lakhs, the vendor supplying oxygen has stopped supply. However, he said the principal had told him that for emergency use, alternative arrangements have been made.

He further said that part payment of Rs 35 lakh has been made to the vendor and that he had been requested not to disrupt the oxygen supply.

Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government on Friday denied media reports that more than 30 children had died at the hospital due to lack of oxygen.

A statement issued by the state Information Department late evening categorically denied reports shown by "some TV channels as misleading".

It however said that the District Magistrate was personally stationed at the medical college and keeping vigil on the situation emanating out of the death of seven patients on Friday due to "different medical reasons".

Meanwhile, state Health Minister Siddarth Nath Singh told TV channels that "a lot of people come suffering from high fever and if they don't get treatment, it may result in death".

To a query if an inquiry will be ordered, he said: "Absolutely, we will do into the depth of these deaths.. we are going to check each and everything and then come with a final answer.. those who who found guilty and if we find any error on their part, they will be made accountable.."

Circulars for independence celebrations but no punishment for the negligence of medical college. Shame on the govt who is responsible for such unwarranted deaths. Eaclh life is precious Mr CM, It does not matter whether the dead are 60 or 6. More than six decades of independence, yet no money to pay bills of suppliers. Why cant THE PM cut down his foreign tours so that more funds will be available for poor.

Yogi is such a great cow mother lover and worshiper; and so, will be establishing cow ambulance-hospitals and surgery centers, because the wandering hungry cows will be creating more accidents to the public and themselves.

The typical classical RSS ruled State of India, the State of 220 million people without proper medical care! No oxygen cylinders in a Medical College, especially in the same constituency of the CM. Then what will be the situation in other constituencies?

Since Yogi Adityanath took over as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, special care is being taken for the protection of cows. Keshav Prasad Maurya, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister, flagged off five ambulances that will cater to cows. The 'Gauvansh Chikitsa Mobile Vans' service will see that all injured cows are rescued and given appropriate treatment at 'gaushalas' after they are taken there in the ambulances.Just hours later, a video footage of a man in Etawah, in another part of UP, surfaced, which showed him carrying his 15-year-old son's lifeless body on his shoulders for lack of an ambulance.
In a state with roughly a hospital for every one lakh people, his magnanimity may seem misplaced. In Uttar Pradesh, India's most populous state, the case of the labourer carrying his dead son on his shoulder exposes the apathy of the healthcare system.
    Hear are some of promises made for Health sector in recent UP elections in BJP manifesto;
    • 108 ambulance service to be upgraded, to reach within 15 minutes of call
    • 25 new medical colleges & super specialised hospitals to be established statewide
    • 6 new AIIMS hospitals will be set up in the state
It's all about pride. Imagine India setting benchmarks as a cow-loving-human-shunning country because that's the hope.Cows can run governments because all the humans will be dead by the time a human ambulance arrives. For the UP government death toll hardly matters as long as it is not cow's.

Yes, indeed 60. When a child dies, the parents bury that child, only the day they die, till then the child lives in their heart. What a Yogi knows about the pain of parents ? These 60 children died due to govt negligence and this Yogi is fully responsible for it.

Majority Hindu population is at stake under Yogi's rule. No justice for Hindus in UP. They are killed and thier numbers reduced citing various silly reasons. Hindus are suffering in UP and Yogi is having luxurious life in his palace wth innocent Hindu blood in his hand. This is majority dispeasement..

As per Government, only Seven belong to BJP and its gang group, and all others are considered as non-human as per CM of Up and PM of India.
