Puttur: Voluntary blood donation camp held at St Philomena College

Puttur, Aug 8: Youth Red Cross Society, National Services Scheme and Students’ Council of St Philomena College and Indian Red Cross Society Puttur, jointly organized voluntary blood donation camp in association with Blood Bank, KMC Hospital Mangaluru at St Philomena College Puttur on August 3.

Dr Sherin, medical officer, Blood Bank, KMC Hospital Mangaluru participated as the resource person. She said, “Blood donation is one of the noblest contributions that a person can make towards the society. It is not harmful for a healthy person to donate blood. The body of the donor can regenerate blood within few days.”

Prof Leo Noronha, principal, in his presidential address said, “Human blood has no substitute. Blood is one which gives life to another person. Blood donation is our human duty.”

Oscar Anand, president of Indian Red Cross Society Puttur and Rtn A J Rai, president of Rotary Club Puttur, participated as chief guests of the programme.

The convenor of Youth Red Cross Society Edwin S D’Souza and co-convenor Dimple Fernandes coordinated the programme.

Gowthami welcomed the gathering. Keerthana compered the programme. Namana delivered the vote of thanks.
