Kundapur, Aug 4: Kundapur Block Congress on Friday August 4 held protests in front of Kundapur Taluk panchayat office condemning IT raids on minister D K Shivakumar.

Congress workers shouted slogans against Modi led central government and IT department and condemned raids on the house of D K Shivakumar.

Speaking on the occasion, Kundapur block Congress president Malyadi Shivarama Shetty said that the NDA government at the centre is using Income Tax department for malicious purposes. “Congress party condemns it. This attitude of the Modi government will not suppress Congress party,” he said.

Congress leader Vikas Hegde said that the raids by the Income Tax department are being conducted to malign the party image. “It is a political game for a Rajya Sabha seat. What was the need on conducting raids on D K Shivakumar, a sincere politician at night? Those are politically motivated. If political dramas such as this continue in future, Congress party is prepared to hold strong protests against them,” he said.

Several leaders in Congress block level participated in the protests.
