Mumbai, Aug 4: Parent’s day was celebrated on Sunday July 30 from 6 pm to 9 pm at St Jude’s Church, Jerimeri, Mumbai. Parent’s day celebration is one of the most significant events of the parish and the theme this year was ‘Parents are God’s Gift to us’.

Parish priest, Fr Lancy Pinto began the celebration with opening prayer.

Addressing the gathering, Fr Lancy Pinto said, “Honour your father and mother. This is the fourth commandment of god. It is also important for parents to treat their children well and spend quality time with them, including family prayer and rosary.”

Children entertained the gathering with their melodious singing, dance and skit. Through their stage programme, they exhibited their love for parents on the occasion.

During the mass in the morning, special prayers were offered not only for parents but also for grandparents who often play an important role in the lives of children.

On behalf of all parents, Agnes and Thomas D’Souza expressed their happiness and thanked children, youths and priests for presenting such wonderful programme and bringing together all parishioners for the betterment of church, community and society.

At the end of the programme, Fr Gabriel wished and thanked parents, youths of different zones and children who made the event a grand success.

The programme ended with a song blessing the entire gathering.

Sera Chettiar and Ashley Lobo  compered.

Delicious snacks and dinner were sponsored and served to all by Santanna Mary and family.
