Bengaluru: I-T raids on D K Shivakumar enter 3rd day: CM says politically motivated

Bengaluru, Aug 4 (PTI): As the Income Tax raids at various properties linked to Karnataka Minister D K Shivakumar continued for the third consecutive day today,Chief Minister Siddaramaiah called it a "politically motivated" move on the part of the central government.

Raking up the issue of I-T sleuths using CRPF duringthe searches, he also hit out at the BJP for calling it a fight against corruption, saying most of its own leaders were facing graft charges.

In a swoop down that has raised a political storm, the I-T department on Wednesday began its searches on various properties linked to Shivakumar, who is hosting 44 Gujarat Congress MLAs at a resort on city outskirts to forestall alleged attempts by BJP to poach on them ahead of the Rajya Sabha polls.

Ahmed Patel, political secretary to Congress President Sonia Gandhi, is locked in a bitter fight in the election.

During the searches at about 66 places across the countryin connection with a case of alleged tax evasion, I-T officialssaid they have seized cash and jewellery worth over Rs 15 crore have sofar.

"This is a politically motivated raid; the timing also clearly shows that it is politically motivated," Siddaramaiah told reporters here.

He said "I'm not against the raid or search on anyhouse, but the time that they have selected and the intentionof the central government and the I-T department..."

On Wednesday, Siddaramaiah in a statement had charged that the I-T department action was an attempt to silence the voice against BJP.

Asked whether he feels that Shivakumar will come out clean, the Chief Minister today said "let us see, we do not know what has happened, what they have found during the searches, but according to me it is a politically motivated."

"He is a Minister. Taking reserve police to his houseand other places is not fair," he said.

Without divulging any details, I-T department sources said the searches at different places and questioning of the minister in this regard continued today also.

Questioning the motive behind I-T sleuths going to the resort where MLAs are lodged, Siddaramaiah objected to the use of CRPF without keeping the state police in the loop.

Also, hitting back at the BJP for terming raids as fight against corruption, he said, "there are corruptioncharges against (union minister) Ananth Kumar, only inquiry is still going on."

"There are corruption charges against so many BJP leaders in Karnataka. Is Yeddyurappa (Karnataka party chief) not facing corruption charges?" he said.

If BJP is all about corruption free India, why there are no I-T raids on Bellary Reddy's who controlled swath of North East Karnataka politically?
Is Congress corruption is corruption, then BJP corruption is 'pure'?
Why IT-ED has not asked about investigation of Janardhan Reddy's daughter wedding which he spent Rs500 crores in the middle of the demonetisation?
Why the Janardhan Reddy drivers suicide note is not investigated further which directly points how he managed new demonetisation crisis without affecting his daughters extravaganza wedding?
If Modi Bhakt is real patriotic they should openly write a letter to PM Modi to oust Reddy's from party and ask for the seize the illegal wealth. Are they going to do it?

Siddu is very happy with the IT raid.
Shiva Kumar is the biggest rival of Siddu who might be projected as CM in the next election.
Once Shiva Kumar is eliminated Siddu will be the top contestant for CM post.

    CM Sir,

You can continue to tell this till the raid is complete and nothing is found out.

If they find out illegal wealth and income from the raid what will be your stand?

Will you justify then also saying BJP leaders have also done that so what is the big deal?

It is the people of Karnataka who will question the illegal income and wealth of your leaders at the time of election next year who have thrown BJP out of power for the same reason five years back. They chose you because you promised a corruption free Govt.

You can decide your stand based on the answer you would be giving to the people of Karnataka next year.

Today, IT officials disclosed that criminal Shivakumara has accumulated wealth of Rs 4,300 crore just after November 8, 2016 note ban !

When he himself took responsibility of Gujarat Congress MLA's in Eagleton Resort, it will obvious that the IT department will make them suspicious as he looked after them with in luxurious way.

Shame on Siddramaiah, who is now breaking his silence. By this we can prove that he is strong supporter and promoter of corruption in Karnataka, as he is defending the accumulation of Rs 4,300 crore poor tax payers money by the ever-shameful Shivakumara.

Shame on them to loot poor tax payers money, who toils hard all day & gives his part of salary thinking that his state as well as his nation will get developed,& also that he will get basic facilities for his living. Shame on you both corrupts Shivakumara & Siddramaiah.

Hats off to the poor tax payers!

First of all raids should be done on all Supreme court, High Court, District Court or any other court judges & lawyers. They are the biggest frauds in the Country. They are the one who rescue all these corrupt politicians. So punish them first... Judges & Lawyers are far more richer than the Politicians. Looters gang has been rescued & protected by liers gang (Judges, Lawyers & Police).
