Mangaluru, Aug 4: Dakshina Kannada Dalit Sanghatanegala Samanvyaya Samithi (DKDSS) on Friday August 4 criticised deputy commissioner Dr K G Jagadeesha for walking out of the SC/ST grievances meeting held at his office on August 2.

Addressing mediapersons on Friday, August 4, Chandu L, president of DKDSS said, "Deputy commissioner Dr K G Jagadeesh has no concern for Dalits. His walking out of the meeting is an insult to the Dalit community. He should leave the district. If he is not ready to leave Dakshina Kannada, we will ask district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai to get him transferred at the earliest."

"Depressed classes manna land is our right. Former deputy commissioners distributed them to us without any problem. But DC Jagadeesh has not distributed a single cent of land to Dalits. He is giving government land to ineligible persons without any verification. This shows that he is against Dalits. Many Dalits are waiting to own land and shelter. But the district administration is denying them the land citing all kinds of reasons. This is an injustice to Dalits," he said.

"We have organised a mass protest on August 28. A procession will be carried out from Ambedkar Circle to the DC’s office. If the district administration does not respond positively to our demands, we will acquire nanna land all over Dakshina Kannada and plant our flags," he added.

Ashok Konchady, secretary of DKDSS said, "We have records of lands distributed to ineligible individuals. The DC is interested in distributing land to rich people for business. He has visited Uppinangady taluk just once in his 9-month term. It shows his lackadaisical approach to administration. It is better to transfer him."

Secretary BK Vasanth, Balachandra Krishnapura, and Baby Suvarna were present.
