Mangaluru: Stany Alvares elected president of Rachana Catholic Chamber of Commerce & Industry

Mangaluru, Jul 30: Well known entrepreneur Stany Alvares has been elected as president of Rachana Catholic Chamber of Commerce and industry for the term 2017- 19.

The election was held at Valencia Church Hall on Sunday, July 30.

Earlier Stany was the Vice- President of Rachana and also convenor of Rachana award committee.

Other office bearers are:

Anil Vas Bendur- Secretary
Elias Sanctis- Vice-President
Nelson Monteiro - Join Secretary
Felix Pinto -Treasurer

Governing body members are:

John Monteiro
Lawrence D'Souza
Louis Lobo
James Madtha
Victor Cutinha
Eulalia D'Souza

Stany Alvares currently serves as General Secretary of Dakshina Kannada Congress Committee. He is committed Konkani activist and community leader. He is the vice- president of Mandd Sobhann. He is also former president of Mandd Sobhann and former president of Konkani Prachar Sanchalan. He is also the vice-president of MACO co-operative society.

Stany Alvares studied at St Joseph's School in Kankanady and later continued his high school and college at St Aloysius.

Stany is a famous artiste in Konkani. He has acted in several stage plays and also in many movies in Tulu and Konkani which include recent hits 'Noshibacho Khell' and 'Sophiya'.

“It is a great honour to lead Rachana. The association is already well known for its service in Catholic business world. Former presidents and office bearers have done tremendous job. With their guidance I will do my best for Rachana and community. My focus will remain in bringing in new blood and ideas in Rachana.” Stany said speaking to media after he was elected as Rachana president.
