Panaji: Surendra Desai declines Congress ticket


Panaji, Jul 30 (TOI): In Panaji , Congress' hopes of convincing senior high court counsel, Surendra Desai, to take on the chief minister, Manohar Parrikar, fell through with Desai declining to contest.

Earlier in the day, AICC secretary in charge of Goa desk A Chella Kumarheld a long round of discussion with Desai to try and convince him to contest. He said that the party "is exploring the possibility of fielding an honest and intelligent person. We have two or three names." After discussing with his friends and relatives, sources said that Desai refused the offer.
