Mangaluru: District to get 100 additional police, beat in every village - SP

Mangaluru, Jul 30: With recruitment of 6 additional police personnel in each police station, Dakshina Kannada district will get 100 police personnel, said superintendent of police (SP) Sudheer Kumar Reddy.

He was speaking in a public meeting regarding village beat organised at Rotary Club here on Saturday, July 29.

“Bantwal Town and Rural police stations have received two probationary sub-inspectors. A proposal, to upgrade Farangipet and Kalladka Police outposts at as full-fledged police stations, has been sent to the state government,” SP added.
He also asked people not to worry about legal problems if accident victims are rushed to hospitals. “We will issue proper guidelines regarding this issue to the local police stations,” SP said.

Every village will have police beat henceforth, he informed.

It was brought to the notice of SP how some auto rickshaws are ferrying passengers exceeding the limit. People also demanded to recruit more traffic police personnel at Melkar which sees traffic congestion of late.

Social activist Vishwanath Chendthimar reminded about the Police Bhavan promised by earlier SP Dr Sharanappa.

Bantwal ASP Dr Arun, Town station officer Rakshith Gowda, SIs Praveen Kumar and Madesh M, Nityananda Gowda were present among others.
