Udupi, Jul 29: "Everyone should try to take care of at least one or two cows in their houses. In state, many BJP volunteers have lost their lives in their mission to protect cows. Every individual who wants to protect Gau Mata should try to rear cows in their homes," said BJP leader Tingale Vikramarjuna Hegde while addressing a meeting of 'Gau Samrakshana Prakosht'.

The conference was jointly organized by BJP Udupi district and Gau Samrakshana Prakosht for district-level leaders on Saturday July 29 at BJP office in Udupi.

District-level office-bearers of Prakosht were also declared on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, BJP district vice-president, Baikady Suprasad Shetty said, "BJP has formed this organization (Prakosht) for the protection of cows. Some people are killing cows not to eat but to create unrest in society. Cow shelters (Gaushala) in the district is also not sufficient to cater to the needs of people."

Chief convener of the event, Siddhart Goyenka said, "To prevent cow slaughter, we need to form many such strong organizations. We need to mark houses where illegal cow slaughter takes place, so that when BJP government comes to power in Karnataka it will be easy to control illegal cow slaughter."

He also urged people to start a signature campaign to urge the government to amend Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960.

Udupi district BJP chief Uday Kumar Shetty, Vinay L Shetty of Prakosht Radakrishna Mendon, district chief convener and Vijay Kumar Udyavar among others were present.

Just want to know how many of our GauMatha Rakshs are giving protection to their own parents, how many of your old parents are looked after decently at home???

Today for the sake of votes, BJP party is giving importance to only cows, they are so many parents crying , because they left alone in huts, ashramas or alone in the house. No one is there to take care of them.

First try to implement a strict rule to take care of your own parents than cows. Give respect to your own parents, they are more than cow matha.

The concept is very correct BJP does not have any issues to go for electorate this time. Cow protection is the right job for these BJP and RSS followers. Last three years all bills proposed by UPA earlier opposed by BJP now implemented by NDA government. Except swacha Barath Abhiyan no any good schemes offered by NDA government. The current BJP government proposed 2 crores job each year nothing happened, BJP can plan some stipend to gou rakshakas, 6 crore volunteers and declare they achieved the commitments. I am not a supporter of any political party in India. Congress is also not administrated this country properly for decades. CPI, CPM RJD, JDU, JDS, Trinmol, Akhali, AAP all these regional parties played their cards all along for their political benefits.
It is very sad to note that political parties are looking for their benefits neglecting the actual requirement of this great nation. Farmers are lost their livelihood and committing suicide for the past three years real estate business collapsed. Our farm lands become baron due to labor problems. Every year millions of new graduates coming out of the colleges and struggling to get employment. The central and state governments are blaming each other on all burning issues like Mahadayi / cauvery river water issues farmers are agitating for the past two years. Why union government sleeping on the problem? Goa is BJP ruled state why our MP's are not forcing our PM to resolve the issue? Now aiming for power in Karnataka. Where is Anna hazare now? where is lokpal? Lokpal is more important than cow in this country. Our society is totally misguided by these political parties, the younger educated generation brainwashed by the politically motivated corrupt media brought by powerful parties of this country.
The values of our great sanathana Dharma not reached to common people and wrongly preached to the new generation by the agents of political parties for their benefit.
'O' God save our lovely nation.

How many of your friends and relatives do not have jobs? In western countries graduates and students do any type of jobs starting from pizza delivery to janitor without complaining. In India, you try to complain about present 3 years old government without any proper proof. Farmers are committing suicide because of bad and appeasement policies.

I do not know where you live in Mangalore but I am from the outskirts of city, born in farmers family still holding agricultural land and facing number of problems to maintain it.
In India labors have job but qualified graduates and professional does not have suitable openings.
Agriculture sector is in deep crises due to production cost and non availability labors.
When mass public fooled by political parties and the stupid media we need to share our feelings.
I do got elected to a public office in the past representing mandal Panchayath. Our village life improved during the regime of Mr. Ramakrishna Hegde (CM) and the Abdul Nazeer Saab ( Neer Saab) However I wish the growth of our country under BJP (cow) rule.

There are mountainous area in the out skirts of the city or district which is not used for cultvation. Such areas as big as 50 acres has to be converted in to gated, fenced sanctuaries for unproductive cattles. They should be left for gazing with proper roofed shelters, water ponds and vet clinic. Their dung can be converted in to manure. People can drive with the children and feed them through the car windows. Also NGO's can collect waste vegetables from city restaurants and houses and feed the cattles through proper fence Windows. Schools can arrange picnics for children to these sanctuaries so that children can understand animals and animal love.

If every human being irrespective of caste, creed and religion decides to house an individual or two who is poor and discriminated Mangalore will have a more egalitarian human community. Cows can look after themselves. It is the poor who need our care. It is unfortunate that issues are diverted for political mileage. It is time that these guys are treated for their mental health. Do the households mentioned here include flats as well?

Getting the cow into the flat might pose a few challenges.

Obviously the cow protectors have far too many cows on their hands, and no shelters.

This is typical of most ideologies. These ideologies come with some super simple solution definitions - to attract a large number of the shallow thinkers.

Eventually the shallow thinkers start scratching their heads for some real world solutions. This is generally the time to come up with a new ideology.

People who have sufficient place, generally have cows, but families in 3 to 5 cents land cannot have. In future in multi storey buildings, instead of car parks, they should impose rule that the place should be used as mini gaushalas.

BJP under Modi government had pushed its core Hindutva agenda to the limits, the veteran LK Advani’s main agenda of Ram Mandir was not enough for NDA II, Cow politics was raised vehemently and cow vigilantes groups were backed by BJP and grew since as early as 2009. The then Gujarat Chief minister Narendra Modi not only talked about cow protection but he went further ahead and started campaign against Buffalo Meat (Pink Revolution) . MS Golwalkar, the RSS chief between 1940 and 1973, was the brain behind the cow protection movement in the 1960s. The government set up a committee to consider the demand of a nationwide ban on cow slaughter. The committee lasted twelve years. In that period, Golwalkar became friends with one of the committee members, Verghese Kurien, known as the ‘Milkman of India’.
Kurien opposed the ban on cow slaughter for economic reasons the dairy business needs to get rid of old and unhealthy cows. In his autobiography, Kurien revealed Golwalkar’s real reason for the cow protection movement.
Cow vigilantism has reared its ugly head ever since Narendra Modi came to power in May 2014. From Mohammad Akhlaq in Dadri to Majloom Ansari and Imtiyaz Khan in Latehar and most recently, Pehlu Khan in Alwar several people have been killed by vigilantes in the name of cow protection.
On August 17, Praveen Poojary was beaten to death in coastal Karnataka's Udupi district by a crowd belonging to the Hindu Jagarana Vedike group, which believed that he was transporting cows for slaughter.
During Alwar attack by Gau rakshaks killed a dairy farmer, not cattle smuggler. While most of the villagers in Jaisinghpur are farmers, there are about 10 dairy farmers. Pehlu Khan was one of them.
There were no cows worshipped in US.But it remained world's top milk producer.Likewise Denmark produce more dairy products, the value of all Danish dairy exports totals EUR 1.8 billion annually.Brazil still no1 beef export.
Only in India Humans are killed for sanctity of cow.

It is a good move, we support you, there are lot of green grass arround Udupi / Manglore which can be used to feed the cows, God bless you.
Please note that milking cow need to be done by yourself (two or three times a day) you cannot hire a person only for that, it will cost you Rs 600 to 700 per day (labor charges per day).
Once you own a cow you will need to get up early in the morning (5 am) to mllk the cow ( hence cannot go for late night parties or get drunk and sleep).
Feed the cow three to four times a day, hence you cannot leave the house for a long and be on the road for morchas and strikes.
But one thing is sure 1) once the cow is old and does not give milk or 2) if the heifer does not bear calf or 3) if the calf borne is male then none of them will keep these in their cow shed. You can ask this any of the dairy farmer (irrespective of religion) and get it reconfirmed.
I am dead against cow stealing . I strongly agree that cow helps human being in many ways but you need wholehearted dedication & huge amount of money to protect all the cows.

So at least 31% households will have cows. That is 9 crore cows in houses. Plus professional dairies extra.

Oh Brother Joe! Cow worship is one thing, taking care of them is entirely different matter. Public in Mangalore city and peripheries witness poor cows roaming around , looking for anything, I mean anything to eat - that's no different than Udipi, karkal, Moodbidri, Mulky or any neighboring towns!
We need to take care of these cows. No one is against it. But people who have time to do mischief, run around slogan shouting, moral policing and anti-social activities need to get themselves involved. All those cows need shelters, water, food and kind/compassionate care! BJP, RSS, VHP, BJD and Vedike
members must donate time and money to protect Gua Mata!
Lets support them what ever it takes - its great cause.

    Mr. Acharaya,

That trouble you can take if Jossy decides to put up a poultry or a pigsty. When it comes to cows, believe me, a bonding automatically develops towards the animal. She is reared as a part of the family, not fattened up for impending marriage/feast. However, they do replace her with a new/younger one when her ability to milk production ends without giving a thought to what happens to her thereafter.

You should have appreciated the minister's advice because all these days you guys were worried about your neighbour's cows, unwilling to undergo the troubls of rearing one yourself. Because with present agitation, coming to her end days you facing all roads blocked about replacing her with a new one. When you are left with a dozen unproductive cows, you will automatically think about getting rid of them, with your motherly love gone out of the window. I will agree if you have reared all that dozen of them without milking a milligram of the lactating secretion from her for yourself but left it all for her calf. Can that happen ? Impossible - so much for your (selfish)love for her !

    Jossey,

I have serious doubts if Cow likes you and like to be adopted by you Sir....animals have very high sixth sense...they could differentiate between friend and foe easily better than humans...
