Bengaluru, Jul 29: The chief city civil and sessions court here has pronounced Sathish Gupta, formerly employed with Infosys, guilty of murdering his wife in 2010.
Sathish was charged with making his wife seated on a chair duly blindfolded with her hands and legs tied, duly making her believe that he was gifting something special to her.
Sathish Gupta had killed his wife, Priyanka Gupta, working as teacher in a prestigious school in the city, on August 10, 2010. He had sealed her mouth with gum tape by offering to give a surprise gift to her. He had then tightened a nylon rope around her neck and slit her throat with a knife. He had then left home. Later, he acted like coming home from work and pretended as if someone had murdered his wife with the purpose of robbing her.
A case was registered in Hulimavu station here about the murder. The police had arrested Sathish Gupta. On completion of investigation, they had filed charge sheet against Sathish. Judge of the court, Basavaraj Sappannavar, found that the charge of killing his wife and then trying to project as if someone else had done it that was levelled against Sathish had been proved.
Public prosecutor, Channappa B Harasur had presented the case on behalf of the prosecution. Quantum of sentence is being announced on Saturday July 29.
