Islamic televangelist Zakir Naik declared 'proclaimed offender'

Mumbai, Jul 29 (IANS): Absconding Islamic televangelist Zakir Naik has been declared a 'proclaimed offender' by a special court, the NIA said here on Friday.

Following the court order last week, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has initiated a the process to attach his assets under the law.

According to NIA, the order declaring Naik - who enjoys a NRI status - a proclaimed offender was issued on July 21 after which the process to attachm his assets started under the Criminal Procedure Code's Section 83.

On November 18 last year, the NIA had lodged a criminal case against Naik in Mumbai, invoking various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

Simultaneously, the Central government had declared the Mumbai-based Islamic Research Foundation (IRF), launched by him as an "unlawful association".

Following this, the NIA had raised his offices, a school and a private TV channel offices which were later sealed.

Naik, who left the country early in 2016, is charged with spreading hatred through provocative speeches, terror funding and money-laundering, among others.

Good people like Zakir Naik are denied by small powerful intolerance factions who feel threat whenever he expose them. Truth cannot be digested. We have plenty of muslim innocents languishing in indian jails without any trial on framed charges. As of today not a single charges have been proved against him. Hope justice will prevail one day.

Zakir Naik runs away from debating with Dr. David Wood of USA, Sam Shamoun of USA, Dr. James White of USA. Brother Jerry Thomas from India. Zakir's bhakts should ask zakir to debate with prominent Christians mentioned here with instead of running away.

Baseless claims. Instead he loves challenges if you watch his speeches. The fact of the matter is no one dare him to face.

When PM was CM, he was banned from entering many countries also. So putting ban does not imply anything about a person.

    @ Ramesh S,
There is no serious issue at all i believe. If there were to be anything as such, why the government started their actions against ZN just after ZN was charged by a Bangladeshi TERRORIST? . Why was there no action taken before that if that was that much serious issue. ZN has also told that he will appear in LIVE skype interview to answer any questions from the concerned authorities for which the authorities disapproved.

Submission of one's will to God the creator of this universe and everything in it is call "ISLAM" in Arabic. Today this word "ISLAM" has been tarnished by few misguided rogues. Thus, making it look very different then any other faiths.
The first human being "Adam" (pbuh) whom God created has submitted his will to one and only God.
David (pbuh) ha.d submitted his will to God the creator.
Moses (pbuh) had submitted his will to God the creator.
Jesus (pbuh) had submitted his will to God the creator.
Muhammed (pbuh) had submitted his will to God the creator.

May it be any religion or faith, People still say "There is only one God"

What wrong has this guy done, he is just a preacher with knowledge on different faith .There was no issues from past 10 years when he started his speech and debate, all of sudden this has happend to divert major problems faced by indians. We have many who tell people to kill openly ,still no arrest or case on them . Since nobody could fight against him on his debate there is a conspiracy to shut him down. Even part of muslims hate him because he has ruined many buisness of priests by enlightening people. Now Democracy can only be termed in dictionary.

Like always NIA is dancing to the tune of Nagpur HQ now residing in Delhi. By either hook r crook want to stop Dr. Naik from preaching so these Nagpur HQ are afraid that their Religion may fall into stake.

It's an irony in India that courts are following Media trail. And also before judgement is passed the person is declared criminal. Stupidity at the highest level.

No matter how much ever hard Baatil forces try to suppress the truth, the falsehood will surely perish and truth will prevail.

Let these NIA or DNA or any other declare whatever they want to Dr. Naik, He will be protected by Almighty if he is truthful and not an inch of him will b harmed by God's will.

Islamic preachers should stop claiming only Islam is the true religion. Bombing the Churches in Muslim majority nation is the reason behind such heinous act.

Yah agree. Not dropping bomb. But use different ugly way by triggering communal riots, looting, using swords and machetes, burning properties, rapes, providing injustice, tarnishing using puppet Media sources etc etc the list is endless.
Are they not more dangerous than bombing???

1999 incident of burning case of Graham Staines and his two sons.
    2002 Gujarat riots-1,000 killed
2007 Samjhauta express bombings- 68 killed
    2007 Ajmer dargah attack
    2008 Malegaon blasts-3 bombs- 8 persons
    Mecca Masjid bombings-14 killed

Do you feel now that some specific religion is not true religion after going through the above facts. I am sure not. So apply same logic to other faiths also. Be just to yourself.

You are right. But being fundamental does not mean that all the fundamentals are terrorists. All religious scholars are also fundamentals. If they are not fundamentals why do they preach the the fundamentals of their religion to their disciples/followers?

Desi, don't say majority has woken up. There are many peace loving, tolerant Hindus who disagree with lynching and killing. You can say terrorists from majority have woken up. They will certainly damage image of true Hinduism same as Islamic terrorists done damage to Islam. I am of the opinion that NO religion is bad. The scriptures of Hinduism are ocean of knowledge. We should encourage everyone , irrespective of religion to read Bhagavadgita to gain knowledge of Hinduism instead of encouraging saffron terrorist who have zero knowledge of Hinduism to be protectors of Hinduism by violence and bloodshed.
