Lava honoured for hiring most apprentices from UP

New Delhi, Jul 27 (IANS): Domestic mobile manufacturing company Lava International has been honoured by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for hiring the maximum number of apprentices from the state.

The company hired 710 apprentices from Uttar Pradesh last year as per the guidelines of Apprenticeship Act, 1961.

"Last year, we hired 710 apprentices from Uttar Pradesh and for this, our team travelled rigorously across the state covering 124 campuses. To ensure we cover every stretch of the state, we also went to smaller towns," said Sanjeev Agarwal, Chief Manufacturing Officer, Lava International, in a statement on Thursday.

The company was honoured for its efforts towards skill development during an award ceremony on the occasion of 'World Youth Skills Day' recently.

The shortlisted apprentices from UP received training that enabled them perform well during the mobile phone manufacturing processes.

"The overall capacity of the two existing Lava manufacturing plants in Noida has grown to over 36 million phones per year," the company said.
