Mangaluru: AAP to contest MCC polls with 60 candidates, promises greener city

Mangaluru, Jul 26: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will contest the next Mangaluru City Corporation election and will field its own candidates from all the 60 wards in the city, announced Rajendra Kumar, district volunteer of AAP.

Addressing a press meet here on Wednesday July 26, Rajendra Kumar said, "Governments after governments increase taxes and introduce new ones burdening the common man, but do not provide basic amenities to the people. As if that was not enough, peaceful co-existence of different faiths and castes is increasingly being compromised by sowing the seeds of communal discord and disharmony. AAP will field 60 honest and caring citizens of Mangaluru to be people's representatives in the Mangaluru City Corporation and they will bring change. We will form ward committees and find suitable qualified candidates.

"Everywhere we see, there is garbage, stink and disease. Roads have not been asphalted or concreted for decades. The asphalted/concreted roads lose their surfaces in just a few weeks due to contractor and corporator greed and corruption. Drainage systems are not done properly despite big promises, posing dangers to commuters. AAP has always stood for anti-corruption, Swaraj and one-India policy," he said.

"Every time elections approach, we hear promises from the two national parties and the regional party. But they remain promises till the next election. And again they come, they promise and then they loot, and life continues as usual for the common man. There is no respite. Pay all taxes, but get nothing in return.

"Environment is a very sensitive area. Unless the environment is taken care of, the repercussion on the coming generations will be very harsh. Our green city landscape is being converted into a concrete mass in the name of development. AAP promises to put an end to this hypocrisy and to be the political party with a human touch and create environmental awareness that reaches all. We will resolve all issues and provide basic necessities to the common man. AAP will stand for cleaner and greener Mangaluru and will strive together will all the non-political environmental groups towards achieving a green Mangaluru," he promised.

"The people from the district and the city are being taken for a ride by the two national parties that are disrupting communal harmony. Their leaders incite the peace-loving common public, who are living in perfect harmony, by giving atrocious, irresponsible and hate-mongering speeches. Because of these political parties, the homogeneous development of Dakshina Kannada in general and Mangaluru in particular has been greatly affected," said Rajendra Kumar.

AAP Karnataka state member Jnansagar Rai, AAP District volunteer Kabir Kaatipalla, Sweebert D Souza and Arjun Mascarenhas were present.

DETERMINATION TO CHANGE - VERY IMPORTANT, SO AS TO SAY MIND SET. THIS IS IMPORTANT. THE WAYS TO CHANGE THROUGH NON CORRUPTION. OUTSTANDING IDEOLOGY OF AAP. CERTAINLY, BUT SURELY WE MUST SUPPORT AAP. please recall, with all the attacks of major parties at Delhi, with all the allegations of major govt. still nothing has been proved, IT raid, etc/- etc/- still AAP in Delhi proved that they are very very Clean, it is not a joke to surpass in the midst of ALMIGHTY. If at all, AAP at Delhi had done any corruption or wrong doing, the major Mighty would have eaten up AAP by this time.

Dear Mangaloreans, if you are Voting for AAP, 1. You are wasting your valuable Vote 2. If you are against BJP, invisibly you are not only supporting BJP but indirectly you are Voting for BJP. Because at any cost Chaddis vote won't go to any other candidates even Chaddi candidate is a Hardcore Criminal. Chaddis will treat him like, he is a Protecter of Hindutva. Secondly, AAP is the B-team of BJP. How many pages of corruption details he had against Sheila Dixit before election? Where is that now after the election? How BJP won in Goa? They had the intelligence report that in Goa it was difficult for BJP to win in a single seat, so the Takla Amith immediately ACTIVATED his B-Team to spilt the Vote, where he greatly succeeded and got his Bounty. Same TRICKS he will do in, First Mangalore then Karnataka but you the people of Mangalore in particular and Karnataka in general must be very very careful while committing PAP when you Vote for AAP.
Secondly, before contesting in MCC , is there any volunteer works towards the common people of Mangalore from AAP? Anybody in Mangalore know these people? First let them do some ground work and prove themselves as worthy. AAP party is like that, they will put the Foundation for single floor house but they want to build 29 floor building on that. Anybody can guess what would happen to that Structure!!!!!

This is called dynasty politics. This is called caste or religion politics. In this mentality India will not change; instead it remain in corruption forever.

You are mentioning here indirectly supporting to BJP but remember BJP is not bad to the certain extent. Now chances are given for both BJP and Congress let us give others also keeping aside our caste, religion.

AAP has already proven to be a failure in Delhi. This party has played the role of spoiler for other parties elsewhere like in Goa and in Punjab.

Now why the hell do they want to come to Mangalore where they dont even have 5% chances of winning. They will not even get 1 seat.

All that they will do is divide the votes of secular parties and help BJP to gain some advantage. Still BJP will not get the majority but it will get an imaginary boost for next assembly election.

Is AAP a B team of BJP? The founder Kejiriwal along with Anna fought for anti-corruption measures and the introduction of Lok Pal Bill. Modi has not initiated the bill. Anna has begun mauna vrata. Thanks to anti-corruption Kejiriwal became CM. As CM he made the Coporators and MLA lakhpathis raising their salaries. For the people nothing much changed.

We need a change. While BJP is communal Congress has not been secular all the time. Both have been corrupt, BJP more than the Congress. A local party of all people of goodwill surely could be a replacement.

We have been meeting people everywhere, encouraging, guiding and joining us, who seek a change from the crooked, greedy, corrupt, lethargic, manipulative, false-promising, crony-capitalistic, dynastic politicians who we have had to choose from and live with for 5 years at a time, everytime.

The education system is deficient on one side and difficult to obtain on the other, taxes are high, being diverted, small and medium sized businesses are not encouraged, one is pushed to make mistakes so they can get you on the wrong foot, people are shown short term benefits and deprived of the long term upliftment, no end.

We assure the well meaning Citizens of Karnataka, in general and Dakshina Kannada District in particular, that we will field honest, sincere and capable people.

Each one of us possibly gets about 8 oportunities to make political choices in our lifetime before we hand the baton and pass on. We appeal with you to believe in us, join us, support us and try us out for the next term.

There is no internal democracy. Save AAP campaign is going on in Bangalore, unless internal issues resolved there is no point in AAP contesting elections. First set the house right. Build the party. Get more active members, make it cadre based. Make membership space for ordinary citizens who neither have money nor voice. Only then contesting elections can be talked about.
Don't expect people to vote you because Kejriwal is doing a good job in Delhi. Show what has AAP done locally or at the state level. We all do have high regards for Mr.Kejriwal but you got to agree that there is no particular face for AAP in Mangalore. Bunch of people whom no one knows is not going to help you win any Ward guys. Pls do some ground work, people in Delhi voted for AAP for a simple reason that they were fed up of other parties and Mr.Kejriwal was a man they could trust with his education background esp. More than anything those were the days when AAP was the talk of town evrywhere, people barely know it even exists now. It's gonna be a tough battle and please remember, do not contest for the sake of contesting, losing in 55 out of 60 wards is still gonna be a black Ward. Instead just make sure you put forward your best candidates from maybe 5 or 10 wards, when you lose you can still say your winning percentage was still maybe 50 or 60% which is a good start rather than having a failure percentage of 90%.
