Mangaluru: Independence Cup football tournament inaugurated at Nehru Maidan

Mangaluru, Jul 26: The 21st Independence Cup football tournament held under the aegis of Dakshina Kannada Football Association was inaugurated by mayor Kavitha Sanil at Nehru Maidan on Tuesday, July 25.

Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the tournament, the mayor said, "Participating in any sport is important. Sports makes team spirit grow among students and helps them accept both win and loss in the right way."

The tournament will witness seven divisions of boys, girls, primary school, high school, PU and college division compete against each other. More than 200 teams will participate in the tournament.


    














Cricket administrator Balakrishna Pai, youth department official Pradeep D'Souza, corporation member Premananda Shetty, football association president D M Aslam, office bearers P V Anil Kumar, Yuvaraj, Lathif and Umesh Uchil were present.

Mayor Kavitha Sanil was honoured on behalf of the association. Secretary Hussain Bolar compered the programme.
