Bengaluru: Two mega flagship events of Karnataka planned in November

Bengaluru, Jul 24: Karnataka’s two mega flagship events – Bengaluru ITE.biz and Bengaluru INDIA BIO for 2017 – are planned at a single venue in India’s IT Capital of Bengaluru in November this year.

The focal theme of both mega events will be `Ideate, Innovate and Invent’.

This year also marks 20 years of India’s premier event dedicated to Information Technology and related sectors.

Karnataka’s Department of Information Technology, Biotechnology, has announced the two flagship events, the 20th edition of Bengaluru ITE.biz 2017, and the 17th edition of Bengaluru INDIA BIO 2017 from November 16 to November 18, 2017 at the Bengaluru Palace, Bengaluru.

Priyank Kharge, Minister of State for IT, BT and Tourism, who announced the events here in Bengaluru, said, “Karnataka has emerged as the leading tech-hub in the country. The focus last year was 'define next', and we were successful in driving engagement with various technology companies across domains.

Discussions with various participants last year helped us understand that companies are looking to emerging technologies to drive innovation, he said.

“We take our event a step further this year, with focus on `Ideate, Innovate, Invent’and our vision is to drive Karnataka as a thought leader in emerging technologies across verticals - from agriculture to aerospace and more,” the minister said.

The list of participating leaders includes Kris Gopalakrishnan, Co-Founder & Executive Vice Chairman, Infosys Ltd. and Chairman, Vision Group on IT, Government of Karnataka, Dr Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, CMD, Biocon Limited and Chairperson Karnataka's Vision Group on Biotechnology, and Krishna Kumar Natarajan, Chairman of Mindtree and Gaurav Gupta, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of IT, BT and S&T, Government of Karnataka.

Gaurav Gupta, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of IT, BT and S&T, said, “While celebrating 20 years of BengaluruITE.biz, we have many esteemed international leaders and global speakers gracing the event. The event offers wider opportunities to leverage and benefit from Information Technology and Biotechnology, display important linkages and synergies”.

Shailender Tyagi Director, STPI said, “STPI is the proud co-host of Bengaluru ITE.biz since its inception. STPI IT export awards and STPI MSME pavilion will certainly be major highlights of the events.’’
Salma Fahim, Director of IT & BT, said “Technology today is ever-evolving. Bengaluru, the IT capital of India is already home to the leaders in the technology industry. Bengaluru also boasts of incubating multiple start-ups addressing the needs of various verticals.’’

The objective of the joint event is to discover game-changing ideas and solutions in Information Technology and Bio-technology.The Curtain Raiser was attended by Industry Captains, Associations, Start-ups, Investors, Policy Makers, Academia, Research Institutes, MSMEs, Trade Commissioners and the Media.

The announcement included an overview of the activities being planned during the BengaluruITE.BIZ and Bengaluru INDIA BIO 2017 Conference and Exhibition.

The combined exhibition of Bengaluru ITE.BIZ and Bengaluru INDIA BIO 2017 is expected to attract over 300 exhibitors showcasing products and technologies to over 10000 business visitors.

The IT conference will cover topics like Cloud & Big Data, Aerospace & Defense, Telecom, Electronics, Cyber security, AVGC AR & VR, ESDM, GIS, Robotics & AI, Privacy & Piracy and newest fields like Blockchain and IoT and Bio-tech conference on Oncology, Rare Diseases & Orphan Drugs; Proteomics; Big Data & Analytics and IoT.

Another highlight of the conference would be BIO-IT covering spectrum of bio informatics genomics diagnostics and medical technologies and more.

The Bangalore Tech Exchange will witness India’s leading research institutions like CSIR, ICMR,DBT, ICAR, DRDO, ISRO, DAE, IISC, JNCASR showcasing their innovate technologies that can be commercialized.

The finals of Rural IT quiz and Bio quiz will be held concurrently with the event.

Along with prestigious STPI IT Export awards and Bio excellence awards, a new category of Business awards are being introduced.

Over 100 young researchers will present their ideas in Bio Tech poster sessions and YESS for start-up. Exhibitors will include Corporates, STPI pavilion for MSMES, Start-up pavilion, NSIC and Association Pavilions.

    THOUGHT PROVOKING INNOVATORS. iT IS GOOD TO SEE TALENTS - YOUNG AND OLD PUTTING THEIR IDEAS TOGETHER TOWARDS A BRIGHTER FUTURE FOR THE GENERATIONS TO FOLLOW.

    Hope the younger generations closely follow the example set by these veterans.
