Mangaluru: Promotion to IPS cadre - four from district make the grade

Mangaluru, Jul 22: The central government, on Friday July 21, issued a notification, promoting a number of police officers from Karnataka police cadre to Indian Police Service grade. Four from Dakshina Kannada district have found a place in this list.

City deputy commissioner of police (law and order), Shantharaju K M, deputy commissioner of police, Hanumantharaya (crime and traffic), Dakshina Kannada assistant superintendent of police (currently on leave), Vedamurthy, and assistant superintendent of police, Vishnuvardhan, who has been transferred into the district, have been promoted to IPS cadre.

Dr Sanjeev M Patil, who was recently transferred from the city to Anti Corruption Bureau, Bengaluru, too has been promoted to IPS grade. These promotions are likely to result in further changes in the police administration in the district soon.
