Ram Nath Kovind elected 14th President of India

New Delhi, Jul 20 (IANS): National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate Ram Nath Kovind was on Thursday elected as the new President of India, securing a massive margin over his United Progressive Alliance (UPA) rival Meira Kumar in a straight fight.

In an electoral college of 4,986 voters with a vote value of 10,98,903, Kovind got 2,930 votes carrying a value of 7,00,244, while the former Lok Sabha Speaker secured 1,844 votes with a value of 3,67,314.

While Kovind got 65.65 per cent of the total valid vote value of 10,69,358, Meira Kumar got 34.35 per cent.

Announcing the election of Kovind as the 14th President, Returning Officer and Lok Sabha Secretary General Anoop Mishra said Kovind had got the required votes under the quota allotted to him in the transferable vote system under the Presidential and Vice Presidential Elections Act.

"I declare Ram Nath Kovind as duly elected to the Office of President," he said.

Congratulations to Kovind-ji on being elected as the 14th President of India by virtue of the votes of the MLA's, MP's and legislators, who in turn, were elected by us. He is our First Citizen and we are bound to respect him by our Constitutional obligations, irrespective of our religious affiliations, personal opinions and political inclinations.
It was rather alarming and disturbing to read the mud slinging & irresponsible comments from some ignorant and zealot individuals here. Some of them even went on to show their extreme idiocy by blaming EVM's for his win, whereas in reality Ballot Paper was used for the Presidential elections.
Let's wish Kovind-ji the very best as we pray that God's grace endure upon him to carry out his official duties impartially for the welfare and development of all Indians and the greater glory of our country.
    Jai Hind.

Hope you remember that money ayyo went to Pakistan and Pappu secretly met Chinese envoy to seek their support to remove present Govt.

For the first time in the history of India all the top four position of administrative power of President, Vice President, Prime Minister and Lok Sabha speaker will be held by Sangh Parivar.
As a president he will be taking oath which reads:
“I, Ramnath Kovind, do swear in the name of God that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the Republic of India, and will to the best of my ability preserve, protect and defend the Constitution and the law, and that I will devote myself to the service and well-being of the people of Republic of India.”
But as a member of RSS he must have committed to fulfil the following oath:
“Before the all powerful God and my ancestors, I most solemnly take this oath, that I become a member of the RSS in order to achieve all round greatness of Bharatvarsha by fostering the growth of my sacred Hindu religion, Hindu society, and Hindu culture. I shall perform the work of the Sangh honestly, disinterestedly, with my heart and soul, and I shall adhere to this goal all my life. Bharat Mata Ki Jai.”
Respected Kovind ji, I hope as President of India you will follow the constitutional oath and not the one obligatory in RSS, you will be flag-bearer of Indian Nationalism and not Hindu Nationalism, you will defend democratic-secular Constitution of India against any attempt to enforce Manusmriti, you will resist any attempt to bring back Untouchability by glorifying Casteism as essential ingredient of Hinduism and Hindu nationalism, you will check denigration of Father of the Nation and glorification of his killers, you will not allow any mischief with the National Flag and Indian democracy. And finally, you will not allow present India to be converted to a Hindu Pakistan.
    Wishing you all the best.

Would you have written the same comments if a Muslim was elected as president? Would you doubt the conflict of pledges made to Islam and the nation? Don't try to cook up issues when there exists none. All secularism for you is only till numbers don't add up. There are umpteen examples of how democracy and secularism is demolished when numbers favor the community and how other religions are stifled.
