Udupi, Jul 20: The installation ceremony of new office bearers of Lions Club Santhekatte for the Lionistic year was held at Centennial Lions Bhavan, Thangadagadi here on Wednesday, July 19.
The former district governor, district leo mentor Ln K Suresh Prabhu pmjf, was the chief guest. He installed the new team of Ln Jason Jerry Dias.
Suresh Prabhu said, "Lions Club International is the biggest serving non-governmental association in the world, serving the public as a whole. The beneficiaries remember our charity throughout their life. Lions Club helps the needy in the city. It executes leadership activities."
Prabhu shared the duties and responsibilities of the newly elected office bearers.
The director Dr Jerry Vincent Dias handed over the gavel stock to the newly elected president Jayson Jerry Dias as a gesture of handing over the authority.
The new president administered the oath.
On receiving the authority, Ln Jayson in his address said, "It is my good fortune to be here. I will dedicate and commit myself towards work and proposed plans of the International Lions president Ln Naresh Agarwal. I will take up the ‘Banasiri’ programme with all efforts, as it was planned by the district governor Ln A R Ujjappa mjf. I was inspired by Dr Jerry Vincent Dias' charity. I would like to help deprived families in the society. Contribution to the poor from one's income spreads joy. The opportunity is a blessing."
I will serve the society by giving my best performance with the support and direction of the Lions members.
New office bearers of 2017-18 of Lions Club Santhekatte, District 317C region VI zone 1, were Ln Jason Jerry Dias (president), Ln Hubert Lewis mjf (I vice president), Ln Praveen Carvalho (II vice president), Ln Catherine Lewis (treasurer) and Ln Sudharshan Nayak (secretary). Ln Vikram Kumar (lion tamer), Ln Santhosh K (tail twister), K Ln Hariprasad (convener - district governor's programmes), Ln Sandeep (chairperson, Nayak Centennial Service Project), Ln Praveen Kumar (club public relation officer), Ln Marrel Jason Dias (chairperson, Membership Committee), Ln Rajesh S (editor, Club Bulletin), Ln Ranjith (convener, Swatch Bharath).
Directors Ln professor L Aranha, Ln Jerry Vincent Dias mjf, Ln Oliver Lewis mjf, Ln Sudhakar Gojer mjf, Ln Hubert Lewis mjf, and Ln Prabhakar Bhat were present on occasion.
The past Lionistic year members Ln Shilpa Sudharshan (immediate past president), Ln Sushma Carvalho, Ln Savitha Gojer, Ln Blesslla H Lewis, Ln Shaila Sandeep, Ln Sheetal Praveen, Ln Satish Sherigar and Ln Suresh M Suvarna were present.
Shilpa Sudharshan welcomed the gathering. Ln Sudharshan Nayak proposed the vote of thanks. Oliver Lewis and Praveen compered the programme.
