Udupi, Jul 20: The appeal filed by Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) against the high court order that had cancelled 55 permits granted to it to run buses under Jawaharlal Nehu National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) has been quashed by a division bench of the state high court. Regional Transport Authority has been entrusted with the responsibility to review these permits, duly giving it six weeks time to take a decision.

President of district Private Bus Owners Association, Rajavarma Ballal, said that the district administration has to obey the court order, copy of which is yet to be received by the association. He also asked the transport authority to implement the court order.  KSRTC sources however said that their buses will move about as in the past as they are yet to receive copy of the high court order.

After the high court's recent decision on movement of JNNURM buses, four KSRTC buses had been stopped by transport authorities. It is learnt that stoppage of  JNNURM buses create problems for  movement of students, who have been given passes.

Minister, Pramod Madhwaraj, said that the high court, by ordering review of permits by regional transport authority, has provided KSRTC with another opportunity. He said that in the place of cancelled permits, the buses will obtain temporary permits to run their services, and that this order in in the interests of the general public.
