Congress, BJP members clash in Lok Sabha over Roopa transfer

New Delhi, Jul 19 (DHNS): Members of the Congress and BJP engaged in a verbal duel in the Lok Sabha over the transfer of police officer D Roopa, who had made startling claims about the facilities enjoyed by AIADMK leader Sasikala in a Bengaluru jail.

BJP member Prahlad Joshi raised the issue of Roopa's transfer and accused the Karnataka government of “punishing” senior police officers who raised their voice against the “illegal and immoral acts of the state government”.

As Joshi made his remarks during Zero Hour, Congress members Mallikarjun Kharge, K C Venugopal, Gaurav Gogoi, and K Suresh lodged strong protest over raising issues related to the state in Parliament.

“One lady officer, a DIG, who raised her voice against providing excellent facilities like that of a five star hotel to VIP jail-mates. … instead of transferring the jailor, the DIG was transferred first and then the jailor was transferred,” Joshi said.

He said another lady IAS officer, who was the Deputy Commissioner of Mysore, was transferred after she filed a police complaint against a person close to the chief minister for threatening here.

“Another officer was transferred because she did not receive the phone call of a minister as she was in a meeting,” Joshi, the member from Dharwad, said.

Congress members were on their feet protesting Joshi's remarks. “Is this the Karnataka assembly. Why is he raising state subjects in Parliament,” Venugopal said.

Kharge said members should not be allowed to raise subjects that fall into the domain of the state government in Parliament.

Let BJP apply the same yardstick to the recent case wherein DSP Shrestha Thakur was transferred by Yogi Adityanath to a town near Nepal only because she had the courage to stop BJP activists from bullying the cops.

Why aren't these BJP hypocrites raising DSP Thakur's transfer issue in Parliament???

In BJP ruled Uttar Pradesh lady officer in standing up to the bullying of BJP leaders in Uttar Pradesh had gone viral.Shrestha Thakur was later transferred by the state’s Yogi Adityanath government to Hardoi bordering to Nepal. The brave officer had later taken to Facebook to give fitting reply to the Uttar Pradesh government.
An honest woman police officer in Madhya Pradesh has been reportedly punished by the Madhya Pradesh government after she forcibly removed black films from the glasses of a car belonging to some influential youth.
The Supreme Court in 2012 had ordered a complete ban on the use of tinted plastic films irrespective of the degree of visibility on windscreens and other glass panels of vehicles throughout the country.
BJP member Prahlad Joshi has no problem if the same ethical treatment is given to lady officer in their own ruling states? No one is allowed to question if the officer discharge her duty with full honesty is getting transferred lik Roopa .Even Lt.Governor Kiran bedi doesn't have any objection.

If Roopa was honest, she should have complained to CM or higher authorities. Why go to the media and make a big issue.

True. When she is an Govt. Officer she should have very well understood this fact and acted as per Conduct Rules. She should have reported the matter to her immediate superior or concerned Minister.
