Mangaluru: Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College goes green

Mangaluru, Jul 19: A programme on Green Campus Initiation, was organised by the department of community medicine of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College on Tuesday, July 18.

Ravi Kumar, deputy range forest officer, Mangaluru, was the chief guest of the programme.

“Conservation of forest and the other natural resources is the responsibility of all people,” he said on occasion.

The chief guest, in his message, elaborated the acronym FOREST. "'F' for food, ‘O’ for oxygen, ‘R’ for rainfall, ‘E’ for ecological balance, ‘S’ for soil erosion prevention and ‘T’ for timber," he said.

Fr Sylvester V Lobo, assistant administrator and president of the programme asked the students what their contribution was in keeping the campus green and clean. "Let us think green, eat green, go green by caring and protecting the mother earth and called to create awareness  about Green Campus to all," he said.


    






























The programme began with a welcome address and introduction of the Green Campus Initiation by Dr ESJ Prabhukiran, vice principal, followed by the inaugural programme with the watering of a plant by the chief guest Ravi Kumar, green ambassador Madhava Ullal and other dignitaries.

Dr Sudhamathi, head of department of Community Medicine and convenor of the programme thanked all involved in the programme.

After the stage programme the group moved to the field to plant the saplings to mark the Green Campus initiative.

The students of third and fourth BHMS along with the post graduates and interns of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College took part in this programme.
