Mangaluru, Jul 17: Kanthapuram A P Aboobacker Musliyar, chief secretary of All India Sunni Jamiyyathul Ulama on Monday July 17 called on the people of Dakshina Kannada to take a vow to maintain peace and coexistence considering the recent unpleasant incidents that took place in the district.

Addressing a press meet organized by Karnataka Sunni coordination committee, he said, "Karnartaka has traditionally been a home for several places of worship. There are several mosques, churches and temples which proclaim the message of peace. People have the duty to follow the teachings of their own religion. There is no meaning in indulging in violence in the name of religion. The unpleasant incidents are happening only because of a handful of people who have no knowledge of religion and who do not go to the places of worship. Therefore, people should not lose patience and should maintain peace.

"Some people are trying to spoil peace in this multi-cultural district. They do that for political gains. Such developments spoil religious harmony. Therefore, we should not respond to vote bank politics," he said.

"Most of those who become victims of communal hatred are innocent people. They suffer for someone else’s faults. Therefore, we should not be the cause for somebody else’s tears and distress. We should stay away from such cruel and sinful acts.

"Police should take action against the guilty. But innocents should not suffer. We should not support speeches inciting violence. All should help in nabbing the guilty and ensuring they are punished," he said.

Udupi Qazi Bekal Ibrahim Musliyar speaking on the occasion said that most of the people among Hindu, Muslims and Christians want peace. "Therefore all should maintain a life of peace and brotherhood," he said.

Ulama state chief secretary Zainul Ulama M Abdul Hameed Musliyar Mani, Sunni coordination committee state president Sharful Ulama Abbas Musilar Manjanady, Takwa Masjid secretary B M Mumtaz Ali Krishnapura, SYS state secretary M S M Abdul Rasheed Zaini Kamil Sakhafi, Ehsan state president N K M Shafi Saadi Bengaluru, Ismail Sakhafi, S M Hamza Sakhafi and others were present.

A wonderful statement coming from most respected Usthad A P Musliar. It is very true that most of this unrest is due to political objective and votes. Mostly created by jobless and heartless individuals who do not know what is religion. Religion does not mean anything to them when their primary objective is to create fear. What is sad is that most of it is targeted towards innocents. I personally feel that similar press statements must come from almost all heads of religious so that the common man is who wish to remain in peace be comforted. Thank you sir, for your wonderful lead… well appreciated.

Little late but good message from AP Ustad to all the peace loving people. Let's maintain the peace and let us keep the religion away from the politics.
