Bengaluru: BJP envisages creation of 50k WhatsApp groups to strengthen voter base

Daijiworold Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jul 17: It is learnt that BJP has planned to create over 50,000 WhatsApp groups in the state for keeping party workers and voters of the party together. With this, it has begun preparations for the next year's assembly election in all earnestness.

BJP wants to make use of WhatsApp to keep in constant touch with booth level office bearers of the party, and through them, attract voters towards the party. Already district level and assembly constituency level groups have been created. In course of time, groups are planned to be created at zilla panchayat constituency, taluk panchayat constituency and booth levels. Instructions towards this end have already been passed on to district heads.

The party, it is said, had identified over 54,000 booths in the state. For strengthening party organization through booth level office bearers, it has appointed over 25,000 party Vistaraks. Through the office bearers, WhatsApp groups are planned to be created at booth level. Office bearers of booth level groups will be members of district level WhatsApp groups, Eranna Kadadi, a BJP leader stated.

It is normal for parties to create Facebook pages and WhatsApp groups during election. This was being done on the basis interest undertaken by local office bearers. But BJP wants to give this sytem official recognition. The party proposes to collect information from all these groups, but before such groups can be formed, permission from the president of district level unit is compulsory, said state unit vice president of BJP, Raju Chikkanaaoudar.

Under this plan, BJP booth level president will be the admin for the WhatsApp group of that booth. Every assembly constituency have 200 to250 booths. By bringing together these presidents, a WhatsApp group is created at assembly constituency level. Their admins will be members of district level group[s. From every groups, a couple of state level office bearers will be members. Information about publicity about central government schemes and party's decisions and thinking process would be shared through these groups. Booth level office bearers conduct meeting and convey information to constiuency or district level groups. BJP feels this will ensure that it gets support of many youngsters.

The spread of fake stories has become a matter of global concern, especially since a US presidential election was characterized by fake news. Post 2016, it became clear that the propaganda, yellow journalism, tabloid journalism and clickbait of yesterday is overshadowed by the fake news of today.

Germany has proposed a bill that would fine social media companies up to 50 million euros ($53 million) if they fail to give users the option to complain about hate speech and fake news, or refuse to remove illegal content.

The bill, advanced by Chancellor Angela Merkel, would also force Facebook, Twitter and other social networks to remove content flagged as child pornography or incitement to terrorism. Corporate officials could be subject to fines reaching 5 million euros.

Social-network providers are responsible when their platforms are misused to propagate hate crimes and fake news.Social media are rapidly changing the communications landscape of the world. Everyone, including politicians, bigots, demagogues and ordinary citizens, has its own megaphones to spread whatever message they like: love, hate, anger, lies, peace, violence, etc. These messages become much more potent and powerful when done in an organized fashion such as the BJP's professional troll operation or the Russian intelligence's information ops. It's important to acknowledge the power of the social media and find ways to make it a force for good.

Unless don't enact laws like Germany the organised misinformation campaigners will pose serious threat to national integrity. It is once again individual responsibility to authenticate the source of the information before one press forward button.

PM Modi follows hundreds of twitter accounts regularly tweeting abuses and threats of rape and other forms of physical violence against Indian actors, artists, politicians, journalists, minorities in India according to Swati Chaturvedi, author of "I am a Troll: Inside the Secret World of BJP's Digital Army".
Swati is an Indian journalist who found herself targeted by ruling BJP's highly organized professional troll operation directed from a location, called National Digital Operations Center (NDOC), in New Delhi, India. NDOC is staffed by paid workers as well as volunteers. Many of the volunteers are well-educated non-resident Indians (NRIs) from the United States and other parts of the world.
The RSS, the ideological father of the BJP and the genesis of right-wing propaganda in India, has been involved in publishing ideological magazines and newspapers for a long time. From their English mouthpiece ‘Organizer’ that started publishing in 1947, to the Hindi face,’ Panchjanya’ (1948), the Sangh’s tryst with influencing society at the deepest level and building a counter-narrative goes back a long way.
Right before the monumental 2014 elections, the stage of propaganda shifted to the World Wide Web, just as the Sangh and the party woke up to an unprecedented vocal presence of supporters on the internet. Christened as ‘bhakts’, these supporters took the form of individual trolls, Whatsapp group admins and later, ran collective organized efforts in the form of websites like Niti Central. The government has, since then, honoured and honed these individuals in a variety of ways. In 2015, as they launched ‘Digital India’, the internet-friendly Modi Government smelt advantage in patronizing 150 of these individuals some of whom are loud, abusive trolls in an official ceremony where the PM openly met with and advised these social media “influencers”.

They share China bus station photo, US road photo, Netherland bridge photo saying "Development of Gujarat when Modi was CM"!

They share a photo of a room, where bundles of currencies stacked and say "This is Swiss bank treasury/locker room and this money belongs to Sonia Gandhi"!

I am extremely shocked at ease with which, cow vigilantes are resorting to violence across the nation. PM Modi is not serious about this, the fact that goons have no fear of the police goes on to show that the top BJP leadership is supporting these fascist elements. BJP and PM Modi should not take the people of India for granted. Else BJP will face the rout in 2019 lok sabha elections same like Congress faced in 2014. As far as Karnataka is concerned you people just day dream of coming to power.

Forget uneducated Bhakths man, at least we can say they are illiterate and not much educated to differentiate between fake and real news and pictures. Some of my friends who are double graduates (die hard FEKU bhakths), share fake news and pics in social media! How pathetic!! Ashamed to say, we studied together!!!

I don't have any problem they are following FEKU/DAKU or promoting, canvasing, voting BJP. It is purely their choice as I do have mine. But, at least they could think before sharing such images like Gujrat riots with caption 'this is happening in West Bengal', Bhojpuri movie scene as 'rapes happening under day light in west bengal'!

BJP is probably the only party in the history of mankind who have used social media in such a way that all lies are spread across like wildfire and people end up believing them. Photoshopped images, blatant lies, edited pics are just a few things. If these people could spread so many lies and hatred on public platforms like Facebook and all, one can imagine how much of hatredness and lies they can spread on platforms like WhatsApp. Be wise my dear friends, the moment someone adds you on such a group, be smart and walk out. It will only ruin your peace and make you I.Q level zero if you decide to stay there..

The Whatsapp is being used by BJP to spread the false and fake news. It is also being used by BJP to spread communal hatred. No wonder if BJP comes to power next elections in Karnataka because even people tend to lose their right thinking abilities when religion comes in between. They dont think rationally whenever there is religion is involved.
