Brisk polling for Presidential election in Maharashtra


Mumbai, Jul 17 (IANS): Polling began on a brisk note for the Presidential election in Maharashtra at the legislature building here on Monday, an official said.

From the start of the polling at 10 a.m., around 15 legislators and parliamentarians have already cast their vote, said the official.

All elected MPs and member of Legislative Assemblies are eligible to cast their vote to elect the successor of Pranab Mukherjee, who demits office on July 25.

The contest is between National Democratic Alliance (NDA) nominee Ram Nath Kovind and candidate of several major opposition parties Meira Kumar, a former Lok Sabha Speaker.
