'Rs 1769 cr provided by minister Madhwaraj for Udupi constituency in four years'

Udupi, Jul 13: "In four years district in-charge minister Pramod Madhwaraj has brought in Rs 1769 crore for the constituency," announced president of the campaign committee Amrith Shenoy, in a press meet on July 12.

"Achievements by the district in-charge minister are innumerable. The long awaited Malpe – Padukere bridge was built at a cost of Rs 16.91 crore. He has renovated the open air theatre at Beedinagudde, an agricultural institute has been built in Brahmavar Krishi Vijnana Kendra at a cost of Rs 4 crore. He has also introduced JNNURM buses in urban and rural areas to eliminate the inconvenience of the people and students. He has also promised to provide 24 hours power supply to Udupi constituency."

"A hi-tech ladies' fish market has been built near PPC road. Compensation fund amount has been increased from Rs 2 lac to Rs 5 lac for the family victims of the fishermen who had died while fishing."

"Madhwaraj has helped establish a deputy director's office of the fishing department at Malpe to avoid the additional burden of travelling. He has also spent around Rs 20.47 crore on various construction works like the Anganwadi building, Sri Shakti Bhavan at Bannanje and has provided equipment for supplying food to pregnant ladies, children and post pregnant women. Pramod Madhwaraj distributed incentives for Sri Shakti self–help groups, Bhagyalakshmi bonds etc," Shenoy added.

"Being the minister for fisheries, youth services and sports, Madhwaraj has provided plenty of new amenities like swimming pool at Ajjarkad, district sports ground, synthetic track for badminton court, synthetic lawn tennis, shuttle badminton, basketball court. He has also developed Mannu Palla Lake near Manipal and launched adventure water sports at Malpe beach to attract the local public as well as tourists."

"Minister Pramod has also dedicated a fund of Rs 12.75 crore for development of backward classes and a development fund of Rs 9.05 crore. The government has released Rs 3.28 crore for the development of Hindu religious places. He has spent Rs 49.86 crore towards self employment projects and Rs 17.07 for the betterment of health service industries."

"Rs 284.71 crore has been sanctioned towards development of fisheries and Rs 9 crore for the development of fisheries. He has released Rs 8 crore grant from the MLA constituency development fund. Over Rs 24 crore has been spent for constructing houses for the poor. The long awaited announcement for Brahmavar as taluk has happened."

"Recently Pramod himself inaugurated 'Pramod Madhwaraj layout' specifically for migrant workers."

Amrith Shenoy further said, "Congress leaders have never experienced any jail term nor has there been a change of three chief ministers in such a short period as in the case of BJP. Likewise there have been no controversial cases nor corruption cases.

The Congress Committee has approached social media to publicize the achievements done by Congress. Facebook has a page called 'Madhwaraj Warriors' and the committee has planned to add one more page 'Namma Udupi Namma Madhwaraj' for publication of news and updates.

Annayya Sherigar, vice president, Nithyananda Kemmannu, Sunitha Shetty, chief secretary, Prabhanayak, Prabhakar Nayak Ammunje, secretaries namely Raviraj Patel, Joyalsons, Vijay Deon and Sanjay were present.
