Udupi: Youth of Kolalagiri ward spend day in slushy field

Udupi, Jul 13: Everyone loves playing in slushy agricultural fields during monsoon. It gives an amazing experience which people get only after venturing into the slush in the field. The youth of Kolalagiri had a great day taking part in a programme of sports competitions in a slushy agricultural field, organized by Catholic Sabha of Kolalagiri recently.

Taluk panchayat president Nalini Pradeep Rao inaugurated the programme.

Keeping aside all their works, young and old alike, participated in the sports which promoted agriculture. They enjoyed the day participating in games such as volleyball, tug-of-war and others in the slushy agricultural field, before going to plant paddy saplings. The paddy yield will be distributed to poor families.


    






































































Followed by the games, a traditional lunch was arranged for all. The lunch was nothing special, but the ganji (boiled rice) and chutney (made of coconut and green pepper) which people relished the most.

Diocese members also participated in the programme. Prizes were distributed during the valedictory ceremony.

Land owner Vijaydas Shetty had provided the field.

Assistant parish priest Joseph Kallianpur, Catholic Sabha Kallianpur ward Stephen Lewis Brahmavar, Vincent D'Souza, Fr Anil Prakash and others were present.
