Mangaluru, Jul 12: ADGP (law and order) Alok Mohan on Wednesday July 12 said that so far, police have arrested 17 persons in connection with the recent incidents of communal violence in the district.

Addressing a press meet the police commissioner's office here, Alok Mohan said that all the arrested persons so far are locals, and not from Kerala as alleged by some.

"From past two days the situation is normal and no incident of communal violence has taken place.
Two stabbing incidents that happened in Ullal and Uppinangady were purely on personal issues and nothing more," he said.

"The public are cooperating with the police and we are also helping them in getting back to normal life," he added.

On the RSS worker Sharath Madivala murder case, he said, "We have got good leads and we are working on them. People should not pay heed to social media rumours and clarify if they get any messages."

On the stone-pelting during Sharath's funeral procession, he said that a total of six cases have been registered.

"Normal life has not been affected by clamping of Section 144. We are investigating all the crimes on priority," he added.

Regarding the protest planned by BJP and right-wing outfits on July 13, he said the decision on granting permission for the protest is left to the police commissioner.

On the raids on massage parlours and skill games in the city by the mayor, Alok Mohan said that the mayor is conducting the raids for the betterment of the society and the police will support her.

"Police are doing everything to stop drug peddling in and around schools and colleges. We need support from public also in this. Public are requested to lend their support by giving us information about drug peddling activities," he said.

    Joe Gonzales, Mangalore,
    Sir,
you are almost the most senior citizen in Mangalore. I too always keep expressing in my comments in Daiji as to the peaceful and decent, dignified life of forgone days. I left my home town Mangalore in 1975 but do follow up news and day to day happenings. Today’s youth is instigated and misguided by some scrupulous people (all know who they are) including politicians who fight, comment and drag on things without understanding the bad effect of such provocative speeches in the minds and their behavior in the society.
Police should act with iron fist to contain and punish such people. We do not want dirty politics we want peace amonth people.

NAMO Naresh wanted in RTI activist murder case was missing for weeks even some predicted he went to Dubai. But our law enforcement officer took couple weeks to arrest him but he got bail earlier than expected.
Now BJP is planning to give me ticket from one of the constituency in the Mangalore for the next assembly elections.
Only arrest won't bring back peace in this already fragile region unless the leaders were prosecuted for their crime. Unfortunately law enforcement is helpless under the power politicians who are associated with the Sangh Parivar. In some extent even law enforcement is also saffronised which was already proved in the 'cobra post' sting operation.
It is also true that ruling Congress local leaders soft Hindutva approach is reason for the present scenario in the future smart city.
    Jai Hind

In a situation like this we often notice that main leaders r not arrested on the ground that there is no solid proof against them and petty followers are arrested. And Main leaders get these petty followers released soon. Taking bull by horns is the need of the hour so that it will not repeat.

It is unfortunate that The District of Mangalore which used to be peaceful and a Haven for people stay in has turned out to be a place for violence and crime.

Police have their own jobs to do instead of rushing to the spot any number of times to attend to urgencies.

Mr. Alok Mohan from Bangalore has made several visits to the south to CONVEY THE PEACE MESSAGE. If this does not work what else can he do?. The IGP, The COMMISSIONER and The S.P. have to attend to their routine of maintaining Law, Order . instead they are concentrating in the troubled area to restore peace. Hope The people understand and learn to live in piece and honour their commitments to society.

Dear sir I quote from the news:

Police are doing everything to stop drug peddling in and around schools and colleges.

    Unquote.

Why can't you catch drug suppliers. Because of the supply of drugs the peddler's existed.

I want drug suppliers / the kingpins to be inside the jail.

Will you do it sir, God bless you.
