Shivamogga, Jul 12: V Shruthi (20) from here, who had slipped into coma following an accident during scuba diving at Hawaii in which her oxygen mask had got detached, lost her battle for life. The young lady, who became comatose on June 30, breathed her last on Sunday July 9 night, her family sources confirmed.
Father of the lady, Vishwanath, confirmed that Shruthi's body has been donated to a hospital at Hawaii. He added that her ashes would be brought here for performing final rites.
At the time of Shruthi's accident, which happened during her journey with her husband working in USA whom she had married last year, none of her family members had passports. They had applied for passports after the doctors at Hawaii felt that the presence of close ones could make some difference in the condition of Shruthi. While Shruthi's mother, Shakunthala, and brother Karthik, became successful in getting passports under Tatkal scheme and travelled to Hawaii on July 7, her father, Vishwanath, could not travel with them as his passport had not arrived on time.
Shruthi had married Seetharamakrishna from Vijayawada, currently working for Yahoo at San Jose, California, last year. She was on a tour of Hawaii with her husband by making use of holidays, when tragedy struck the family on June 30.
