It is so nice to see the various outstanding Konkani singing talents of the Middle East as if almost on one single platform “Daijiworld’s Website “ while going through the photo albums of UAE, Bahrain and Kuwait., and judging by the smiling and cheerful faces of participants - both the contestants and the enthusiastic crowds it gave an enormous feeling of pride to a Konkani Musician like myself that our Konkani Culture, heritage and language is strong as ever in the hearts of thousands of Mangalorean expatriates effluent or not so effluent....even though living far away from our motherland and in a different economical environment.
Gone are the days when a few self proclaimed ‘rich-high society’ people of Mangalore who used to look down upon anyone speaking or singing in Konkani language ....the time has come for all the Konkany loving people and the generations to follow …..to look down upon these lost or deviant members of Konkany Civilization, Culture and Heritage ....and the message is “Love your mother-tongue Konkany…..Long Live Konkani”…..and Thanks to Waltybab of Daijiworld and the Organisers of the Gulf Konkany Voice of Mangalore Contests…….You made us feel all the more proud of ourselves being the torch bearers of the Konkani Heritage.
