Goa BJP President files nomination for RS poll


Panaji, Jul 11 (IANS): Goa BJP President Vinay Tendulkar on Tuesday filed nomination papers for the upcoming election for the lone Rajya Sabha seat in the state.

Tendulkar was accompanied by senior BJP leaders in the state and MLAs from allies Goa Forward and the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party.

"We already have a majority in the assembly. Our allies have also shown solid support. I am confident of our victory," Tendulkar told reporters here.

Rajya Sabha MP and state Congress President Shantaram Naik's term as a member of the Upper House ends on July 28.

The Congress has fielded Naik as its candidate for the July 21 poll.
