Udupi, Jul 9: Union water resources minister Uma Bharti visited Sri Krishna Math here on Sunday July 9, the day of Guru Poornima and performed Pada Pooja of Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Paryaya Pejawar Math.
According to the Indian calendar, Guru Poornima is dedicated to one’s Guru, Acharya, teacher or mentor. It is about paying respects to Gurus and spiritual teachers.
After performing the Pada Pooja of Pejawar Swamiji, Uma Bharathi spoke to media persons and said, “I have come here to perform Pada Pooja of my spiritual Guru Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji. I took sanyasa deeksha from him 1992. It has been 25 years since then,”
“The Pada Pooja is happening after 17 years. I met Swamiji several times when he performed Chaturmasa Vrutha in Mumbai and other places. But I could not perform Pada Pooja,” she added.
“My Guru Pejawar Swamiji is a social reformer. He has succeeded in bringing in many social changes in the society. He had given Sadhwi deeksha to me. Udupi Krishna Math is always a special place for me,” she concluded.
Uma Bharathi refused to answer any questions on politics.
Uma also took the Darshan of Lord Sri Krishna through Navagraha Kindi along with the Pejawar Swamiji during her visit. Swamiji felicitated his disciple Uma and gave Anugraha Mathrakshate to her.
Uma proceeded to Pajaka in Kunjargiri. She will take part in the Guru Poornima Mahotsava later.
