Mangaluru, Jul 6: Demanding a loan waiver for farmers from the Central government, Youth Congress from Mangaluru South constituency unit organised a rally in front of State Bank of India Port Branch e on Thursday, July 6.

Addressing the protesters, Mithun Rai, president district Youth Congress said "Karnataka state government under the leadership of Siddaramaiah has already waived the loans of farmers in state. By doing this Siddaramaiah has shown that he is farmers’ best friend and protector. He has never cheated the farmers. In fact he has saved them from burdens by implementing various programmes for them. But the Central government is not showing any signs of loan waiving,”

“Modi government is only supporting to corporate world. He is not interested at all in listening to the problems of farmers. He has forgotten the promises he made during election time. He cheated the farmers. So we are going to hold strong protests against him and his government with the support of farmers," Rai added.

“Youth Congress has decided to come on streets to support farmers and we will not take rest until the loans of farmers in the nationalised banks are waived by the Central government," he informed.

In his speech, Praveen Chandra Alva, corporator and Youth Congress leader from Mangaluru South constituency said "Farmers are happy with Siddaramaiah led Congress government. State government has always engaged with the implementing farmer friendly programmes. But Narendra Modi’s government is making policies without considering
the interest of farmers. Farmers are committing suicides in the country. Banks are busy with seizing properties of farmers. Demonetisation and GST have made farmers’ and common people’s lives miserable. We cannot remain mute spectators.”

Mangaluru South constituency Youth Congress president Meryl Rego said "This protest is just an example of planned future protests. We will organise mass protests with the support of farmers in the future. We demand that the central government should waive the loans of farmers immediately.”

Leaders Salim, Balakrishna Shetty also addressed the gathering.

Loan waiving is a very dangerous game. First of all, whether it reaches the poor farmers is a big question.Secondly , we have six lak crores of rupees of bad loan hanging on our head. Do we still wish to encourage ? Modi has collected enough money in banks through demonitisation process. That's good. But will the government assure 100 percent security to our deposits at bank .No.Each account one lak rupee is the insured sum irrespective of whatever higher value you might have deposited. .That means,a commoner who spent his life time as NRI or private sector employee and has no fixed pesion, end of the day deposit cash at Nationalised banks and hope to live on interest received against deposit. Now the interest rates have fallen down .from 10 to 6.75 percent , more than thirty percent drop. We will congratulate government. But is there fall of price at market ? Real estate ? Essential commoditized? No. So how you say this policies are poor and middle class people friendly ?
Take out your money from banks before it is liquidated as loan waiving at one stage will be mirrored at all other states of the country. How the commoner will survive is a big question.

BJP promised to waive off farmers loan in UP before assembly election for political gain. When they came to power and Yogi became CM, to save face, he went to Delhi and asked Jootley to help his state. Jootley chased him away saying "Poopana.. ijja?"

Yogi returned empty handed scratching his bore-mande!

When they did not help their ruling state, how can we expect any help from centre with loan waiver?

Farmers are very very happy with Siddaramayya and they are very angry with Modi. Mithun Rai is showing all the signs of future Congress neta. After the great work from Ramanath Rai, with his visionary work for DK, we have seen some world class facilities in Mangalore. He is the main reason for Mangalore to be chosen as Smart City. Because of him we have world class ksrtc bus stop and even more beautiful city bustand. Law & order is at its best in DK only because of Siddu & Ramanath Rai.
Rai is more unbiased leader on caste & religion. He is the reason for the development of his home town of Bantwal and BC Road which is one of the most developed taluk centers in DK. His dream of wonderful road connection to Bangalore has come through in his tenure. Railway station and its development is his work. He is a blessing to DK. Mithun is his prodigy and future of Congress.

How much BJP members charge for each protest? They are on road every alternate day under party & Sangh Parivar banner!

Looking at frequency of their appearance, they must be paid good.

    People want easy money,

Let them investigate where the Loan money goes?

Secondly, it is State Government's responsibility to help the state Farmers, then why state Tax is collected?

Every time you waive loan it become habit to for the local taking Loan on Farmers name or fake name and not repaying it.

When they get good crop , do they give extra money to Bank?

They demand more price and Government don't give they throw on roads. then asking for loan waive.

    Mr.Nagaraj,Bangalore
Perhaps you have no proper knowledge about Poojary or his sala mela. Fact is that Poojary is responsible for reaching out to poorest of the poor people in the society through smal loans like DRI scheme,IRDP,SEUY scheme etc., There is a wrong opinion about him about his involvement of such social scheme when he was Mos.Banking and Finance in Late Rajiv Gandhi"s cabinet.Till then there was no access for poor people into banking schemes.
Again he was not lost because of his salamela. He initiated his popular schemes for the poor lot in the ueat 1984.He won in 1982 ,1987 during Rajiv Gandhi's tenure.Only people with vested interest ca criticize him for his innovative ideas. He is quite different than the present set of MLAs of DK.Loans written off under the small small loan segment is negligible small %age compared to write off of loans of corporates.

Since janardhana poojary is not corrupt congress have not made him a cabinet minister this term. Hardly b find a uncorrupt guys in congress and yet they won't give them a power to work for the people. Congress give a corrupt guy to make money and can fund to UPA for other state election
