883,000 traffic violations waived in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, Jul 6 (Khaleej Times): More than 883,000 motorists had their traffic violations waived in Abu Dhabi, before the implementation of the new traffic laws, revealed the Abu Dhabi Police on Tuesday.

Major Suhail Faraj Al Qubaisi, Head of Traffic Violations Department, Abu Dhabi Police, said that the cancellation of traffic points for drivers has been applied in line with the Year of Giving.

He said that the violations that were not covered included driving the vehicle recklessly, driving over the speed limit, bypassing the red light signal, causing danger to the public and driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

Major Al Qubaisi stressed that the cancellation of the points of the drivers' traffic record aims to prepare motorists for the new traffic laws and allows them to review their past records of offences.

Major Al Qubaisi stressed that Abu Dhabi Police will continue its efforts to raise awareness, particularly through the means of their official means of social media platforms.
