Vijayapura: Woman seeking repayment of loan denuded, assaulted, paraded

Daijiworld Media Network - Vijayapura (SP)

Vijayapura, Jul 5: An inhuman incident which happened at Hiremasali village in Indi taluk in the district on Sunday, in which a woman who demanded repayment of loan given by her was stripped, beaten up and paraded through the streets of her village. Although the incident happened on Sunday, it came to the knowledge of outside world only on Tuesday.

The victim of this attack happens to be Savita Dundayya Godihal (35). She had lent Rs 30,000 to a local named Maulali Mundodagi. When she approached the house of Maulali on Sunday afternoon and sought the money back, wife of Maulali, his brother, mother and other relatives reportedly started to quarrel with her and then attacked her. They accused her of having illicit relationship with Maulali.

When Savita refuted this allegation and sought her money back, the family members of Maulali, it is said, denuded her, and paraded her, raining choicest abuses all along, through the streets of the village, reports said. Even after the woman beseeched them to give back her clothes, duly promising to waive the loan, they did not take pity, and dragged her along the streets, relatives of the woman stated.

On Tuesday, Savita filed complaint against nine people including Sugura Maulali Mundodagi in Indi rural police station. It is said that the accused have fled from the village. This incident has happened following an incident in which the father and brother of a youth were tied to trees and beaten up because of the youngster's love affair a week back at Halagundakanala village in Sindhagi taluk in the district.

Guys, stop blaming the government for all evils happening in the state. The Chief Minister and the Police cannot stand behind each and every citizen in the state. People have lost humanity and have become extremely selfish and intolerant. Nobody is bothered about development or progress in any way. On the contrary everybody is busy with non issues like caste, religion, beef, cow and so on.

@Jossey Tauro, mangalore,do you think they are in digital world?Iam sure not.when one want to pay back their loan, they will even without asking. But these shameless ones are only wanted to defame her,had absolute dont want. They came to their goal, as woman waived the loan and wanted only her clothes back ,and now absconded. She could have asked the loan back per lawyer, but when she had any papers signed. In villages loan is given mostly with out any security papers signed.thinking of honesty.
