Udupi: Extraordinary talent from Dubai Smrithi Shenoy to perform in hometown

Udupi, Jul 2: Extraordinary Bharatanatyam talent from the United Arab Emirates who learnt her dancing skills there itself is going to perform her first show in hometown here on July 9 at Ravindra Kala Mantapa in M G M College.

Smrithi is the disciple of Rohini Ananth from ‘Classical Rhythms’ in UAE.

Famous cine and stage artiste Kasargod Chinna, dancer Manasi and Vidhwan Sudheer Rao will grace the ceremony among others.

Daughter of Deepa and Dayananda Shenoy, Smrithi studies in 9th standard in Our Own High School in Sharjah. In addition to brilliance in studies, she excels in art, Bharatanatyam and music.

She started her Bharatanatyam life from the age of 5. Guru Shakthi from Symphony Music Institute in Sharjah was her first teacher. Then Rohini Ananth trained her.

She has performed in many prominent events in UAE including Vishwas Kannada Sammelana.

The first performance called ‘Arangetram’ is very important in any artiste’s life. Smrithi is a bridge between the old and next generation in transferring the rich classical dance heritage of India.

Rohini Ananth who runs ‘Classical Rhythms’ in UAE is a sea of talents. She started ‘Swaralaya School of Performing Arts’ in 1996 and has trained more than 150 people since then. Many of them have passed highest form of examination in Bharatanatyam.

She has many international awards and also awards from Kerala ad Karnataka state governments.
