Mangaluru: Eight outstanding youth achievers to receive ICYM Awards

Mangaluru, Jun 30: Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM), a premier youth organization of Mangaluru Diocese has announced the ICYM Awards for 2017.

The announcement was made by the Secretary of Youth Commission of Mangalore Diocese and the Diocesan ICYM Director Fr Ronald Prakash D’Souza.


Bryan Mascarenhas, Denzil Pereira, Jeethan Castelino, Sandesh Monteiro 


Shanthi Lasrado, Sweeny D’Souza, Sydna Serrao, Tysont D’Cunha

The award winners are:

Bryan Mascarenhas from Vamanjoor Parish –Self Employment.

Denzil Jerome Pereira from Kelarai Parish –Music.

Jeethan Castelino from Derebail Parish – Science & Entrepreneurship.

Sandesh Jaison Monteiro from Cordel Parish –Dance.

Shanthi Priya Lasrado from Bondel Parish –Anchoring and Media.

Sweeny Maria D’Souza from Valencia Parish –Konkani Films.

Sydna Reema Serrao from Taccode Parish –Education.

Tyson Baptist D’Cunha from Madanthyar Parish – Drama and Short Plays.

The grand award ceremony will be held after the Annual General Body Meeting of ICYM on July 2nd at 2.30 pm at the Rosario Cathedral Cultural Hall. 

Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu, Vicar General of Mangaluru Diocese will preside over the function and Fr J B Crasta, vicar of Rosario Cathedral and Raymond D’Souza, former National Advisor of ICYM will be the guests of honour.

    Events such as these are the best motivators for our young men and women of our Diocese so that they feel that they are timely recognized and honored. Selections such as these are delicate and difficult, but ultimately somebody has to be selected and each Parish therefore have the responsibility to select the right candidates and submit their names for further selection. Thanks to all those that make these opportunities possible. Let our Youth get the best possible attention.
