Udupi: Serial accident - Xylo smashes into four vehicles, eatery near Mandarthi

Udupi, Jun 30: Several persons have been reportedly injured in a serial accident that took place near Mandarthi here on Friday June 30.

A Xylo car suffered a tyre puncture and rammed into three auto rickshaws, besides a roadside eatery at Hosakatte near Mandarthi.

The Xylo was moving through Hosakatte when one of its front tyres got punctured. As a result, the driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed into three auto rickshaws that had been parked by the roadside for hire. The Xylo then dashed into a eatery.

The auto rickshaws were damaged in the incident. A bike that was parked near the auto rickshaws was also completely smashed. The eatery suffered partial damage.

Initial reports stated that several persons who were at the spot and inside the eatery were injured.

Brahmavar police have registered a case.

Drinking causes lose of judgement and sometimes cause terrible accidents. Please drive carefully Accidents can happen in fraction of a second. Later no point in blaming that moment which caused an accident, Accidents are in one sense completely preventable.

    When there is a tyre bust never accelerate nor apply brake normally drivers apply brake which causes vehicle to go out of control.

    It all happens in a fraction of seconds. There is absolutely no time to react.
    Best thing to do is don't run on worn out tyres.

    Bad tires cause the accidents in most of the cases. Therefore annual inspection of all the vehicles should be made mandatory by the traffic department.

    Driving with alcohol intake is the main factor for reckless driving. Authorities should punish severely for ssuch rash drivers. Authorities should impliment to check the level of alcohol in driver's body and only permitted for certain level .

    May be you should get you eyes checked rather than checking his alcohol content.If your tyre bursts,any amount of sane driving cant help you.
