Puttur: Man from town dies during Himalayan expedition

Puttur, Jun 29: A person from the town, who had been on a Himalayan expedition, died in Himachal Pradesh recently. The deceased has been identified as Chandrakanth Bhat (47) from Parladka here. Bhat used to regularly undertake such annual expeditions in June since the last three years, it is gathered.

Bhat, who happens to be a chartered accountant based in Mangaluru, had left on June 19, being a part of a group of 20 climbers. The group was on a pilgrimage to various centres of worship located in the Himalayas. Five of the group members were from the town, it is said.

Bhat had taken part in the expedition in an area in Himachal Pradesh on June 24. During this period, he experienced chest pain. He had taken rest that day and got treatment from a local hospital. Next day he took part in the journey with fellow tourists. It is gathered that he suffered from heart attack when getting down from a bus at Reckong Peo in Himachal Pradesh and breathed his last instantly, information received here stated.
